@2manystripes@chlugsy i don't trust news outlets to paint an accurate portrayal of the very real dangers trans people experience, but i disagree with the suggestion that every single news outlet rn is misrepresenting and/or omitting important details of the incident in lockstep with one another.
@2manystripes@chlugsy it’s worth noting that hate crimes are notoriously difficult to prove in court and most cases involving such will not be tried as hate crimes. this however doesn’t explain why court documents (witness statements) don’t include mention of transphobia.
@Azzy_The_Mutt@2manystripes@chlugsy lol nah, get out of my replies transphobe. we have very different reasons for wanting the facts to be presented accurately.
@StDoritos@2manystripes@chlugsy i strongly doubt they called it a hate crime to “push an agenda”. it’s just very easy to assume that a trans woman being stabbed to death is a hate crime, because it isn’t an uncommon phenomenon. it’s an easy mistake to make.
@Sprewdriver@2manystripes@chlugsy there ARE other witnesses they’re asking to come forward, but i think it’s telling that the friends that were with her didn’t make any claims of it being transphobic in nature. he had a history of violent crime and it seems to be very much a wrong place wrong time situation.
@Sprewdriver@2manystripes@chlugsy the court docs say he approached, got into an altercation w/ the friends, he pulled a knife, someone in the group egged him on, and he stabbed the victim to death. pretty in line with any other random act of violence, sadly. no one present claimed it was motivated by her gender.
@pvcgay@documense assuming you do indeed live in indiana, and you were born in ‘07, hrt is legal and there are a number of clinics working with individuals with low income or no health care.
@unofficialbis@ClownPoast@BobbyTimeclock except those specific things are socially acceptable and extremely common from gen Xers onwards. if you went on about this in a public space, you’d be branded a jerk long before the average joe would think to regard someone with a plush keyring as juvenile or weird. why is this?
@unofficialbis@ClownPoast@BobbyTimeclock adults leave the house all the time with little stuffed keychain toys clipped to their bags, or little toys on their car’s dash, or wearing a shirt with characters from a cartoon. can you elaborate why these are acceptable behaviors, but what you’re describing isn’t?
@unofficialbis@ClownPoast@BobbyTimeclock i’m sorry the world has made you believe that simply carrying something you’re interested in with you is imposing strangeness upon others. what a grim lens through which to view your own autonomy and interests.
@jelly_momm it’s just a burst abscess. outside cats get them from fighting, and they rarely require intervention despite looking very gnarly. many emergency vet surrenders are pts on the spot due to cost. i’d get in touch and try to arrange a foster.
@_glorianas even the Foxfire books, namely Foxfire 2, published 1973, had an entire chapter on “Boogers, Witches, and Haints”, documenting locals’ experiences and “ghost stories”. this isn’t a new phenomenon.
@americaunwon@edgarrmcgregor deer and elk shouldn’t have been on the island in the first place, they were imported for sport. overgrazing unbalances the ecosystem and creates prime conditions for non-native plants to flourish, and often said plants are very susceptible to wildfires.
