Let me put it this way. If it were possible to just up and change jobs from this level of precarity, don't you think people would have done so? If not, you're just blaming an entire class of worker for their own suffering.

@darginnn @idiotpeach The problem is when every job you can find also does this, because the laws permit it. It's not like just one restaurant does this. The precarity of some workers is that the availability of jobs in the area they qualify for and can do force them to accept shitty conditions.

@justalexoki No, I think you're correct. The problem is a lack of collective bargaining power by workers to make that happen. Bosses have the power to depress worker wages; failing to tip punishes the *workers* for this state of affairs. I would look at it as the boss scamming you.

@Ishansharma7390 The startup you're involved with has this in its pinned thread. Tipping *is* a scam, but one perpetrated by bosses on workers to avoid paying them. Workers are forced to treat every meal like the listed price is the upfront payment, and to hope you'll not renege on the rest.

To avoid scams and frauds you should always charge partly in advance.

If the client trusts you then they'll never have a problem to pay a percentage in advance.
