Thrilled to be part of Ada Infrastructure Royal Docks Data Centre’s ground-breaking ceremony yesterday as the 3 building facility gets built!

It’s one of 4 being built in our borough & in our @YourRoyalDocks! 🙌🏽

And this one isn’t just a construction project: it is a 150-year commitment to our borough’s future. 🏗️💻

Being built next to the historic Tate & Lyle @TateLyleSugars site in our majestic Royal Docks, we are bridging our industrial heritage with a high-tech future.

This Data Centre hub will be a cornerstone of our vision for Newham, designed for low-carbon operations and future-ready AI demand.

As your Mayor of Newham, for me it’s not just buildings but about our people: a fundamental part of our building a fairer Newham mission which is about creating opportunities ✨

We are turning hyperscale capacity into human capital & ensuring our residents are first in line for the jobs of tomorrow.

This new Data Centre will anchor our digital & data economy for the coming years, with:

🚀 £millions in investment
🚀 AI-ready infrastructure
🚀 Real jobs for local people

And we have already started through our 5-year Newham Data Economy!

In the past year alone we’ve:

✅ Secured £1.2bn in digital infrastructure investment.

✅ Trained 700+ young women in AI through "Girls in Data."

✅ Helped 53% of our residents taking part in Newham Data Economy Bootcamp secure immediate employment.

This is how we move from digital infrastructure to digital inclusion.

We are moving from regeneration to long-term economic transformation.

Our residents aren't just watching the future happen; they are going to be right at the centre and leading it. 👊🏽

Today, I shared that the @LDEUTC received an outstanding Ofsted result with a packed Chamber. Students there get industry level training and are well prepared for their next steps.

Wonderful to be at Custom House this afternoon to mark the completion of the first phase of our Custom House regeneration programme with 2 schemes: William Paton House and Freemasons Road.

✅ 95 genuinely affordable homes across 2 sites: William Paton House and Freemasons Road

✅ Three mansion style blocks ranging from 4 - 8 storeys, built to Passive Haus stands for heat efficiency and lower bills.

✅ Two commercial units, communal gardens with growing spaces 🥔 🥕

All part of our Affordable Homes for Newham programme and one of the largest neighbourhood regeneration schemes in London where co-production with our residents is central! 🙌🏽
