This is a fantastic opportunity to manage flood risk for a 1/4 of England’s population. The committee is well established and passionate about doing the right thing for people and the environment.
Do you have a good understanding of flood and water management and an ability to provide strategic leadership. The Regional Flood and Coastal Committees (RFCC) are seeking three new Chairs.
Apply before Midday on 9 January 2024 - https://t.co/VcNSBguSD3
I will have been an RFCC chair for ten years by August 2024, and it is time to pass the chair of the Thames RFCC to worthy successor. Is that you? I look back at a very rewarding time in the role, having played my part in reducing the risk of flooding for many people.
@KeelaShackell That fantastic Keela and your Mum would have been so proud of you. Well done for helping so many people whilst going through your own grief.
With thunderstorms and heavy rain forecast in parts of London & SE England today, flash #flooding is possible.
Stay alert as surface water flooding occurs after intense rainfall and can happen very quickly: https://t.co/cvrWvJs3dy
Never seen this before on a champagne bottle! Had to use a knife to get into it. Must be a very unique bottle of @piperheidsieck champagne with a double muselet?
It was a truly memorable afternoon presenting British Empire Medals, celebrating with Honours recipients and Presenting Certificates of Meritorious Service to Adult Volunteers @WoodlandManor. My LL Cadets were, as always, brilliantly turned out and read confidently & articulately
Really good to be collaborating on this work. Looking forward to having a strategy and implementation plan to address the issues of #climatechange and #surfacewaterflooding
Yesterday we joined partners for the second meeting of the Surface Water Strategic Group! 💧
The meeting highlighted great progress towards the development of London Surface Water Strategy, following the London floods of 2021.

Congratulations to @DefraGovUK colleagues honoured in the #NewYearsHonours. The awards are richly deserved. Thank you for the incredible work you do, including Christine Middlemiss @ChiefVetUk, @AndreaLedward, Claire Bell @cbell46, and Simon Mundy
There are 3⃣2⃣ days left to respond to our consultation on the future of the #Thames riverside in #London and the estuary.
Have your say now on #sustainability, #climate resilient #growth, managing #flood risk and more. https://t.co/oxdldrCiTD
The heat had made the ground exceptionally hard so if you do experience rain it’s likely to run off to the easiest place. This could lead to surface water flooding.
After record breaking heat, the ground will be incredibly hard. Intense heavy rain falling onto a solid surface may lead to surface water/ flash #floods
Please be #floodready! If you think you may flood, move your car first & then possessions to a high place of safety #floodaware
