Education or food? Funding shortfalls force Sudanese refugees in Egypt to ‘make very difficult decisions’.

No mother should be separated from her child.
After years apart, Fatoumata finally reunited with her daughter Aminata.
This #MothersDay, we’re thinking of the families still waiting for that moment.
Families belong together. ❤️
🔹لا تزال مستويات انعدام الأمن الغذائي الحاد وسوء التغذية مرتفعة بشكل ينذر بالخطر وراسخة بعمق.

“The share of funding available to each refugee has decreased from $11 per month to only $4,” @cbeshay said.
The $11 amount was already insufficient to cover all the refugees’ needs & with the number of refugees doubling and funding shortfalls, the support has been reduced.
"عندما يتوقف هذا الدعم تضطر الأم إلى اتخاذ قرارات صعبة: هل تطعم أطفالها أم ترسلهم للمدرسة أم تعالجهم؟".

The war in Sudan has created the world’s largest displacement crisis.
12 million people are displaced.
And thousands are still fleeing every week.
Behind every number is a life interrupted.
They cannot be forgotten.
Nobody's running the freight math. From Brent $112 to $200 is another $88/bbl. Every $10/bbl adds roughly $0.24/gal diesel, and a cross-country load burns 450 gallons. That's $950-1,050 more per truckload. Ocean freight is worse: $674/mt added to VLSFO puts you at $1,420/mt, which is $1,350-2,700 per container depending on routing. And the April 2 tariff bill lands Monday. Both invoices hit at the same time.
1/ The world is facing a 'ticking time bomb' from its supply of oil, according to a briefing note from JP Morgan. Physical scarcity of oil is about to unfold across the globe, spreading sequentially through April from east to west, causing major economic disruption worldwide. ⬇️
BREAKING: Egypt’s petroleum ministry says a new natural gas discovery was made in the Western Desert by US company Apache, with production expected to reach about 26 million cubic feet per day.
First it’s breaking news.
Then it becomes a statistic.
But behind every crisis are children who have witnessed things no child ever should.
Children who should be in school.
Children who should be playing.
Children who deserve a childhood.

In just one week, almost 700,000 people have been displaced across Lebanon as the crisis in the county deepens.
Lives have been upended on a massive scale.
Encouraging backing from governments for our plan to save 87M lives in 2026. In just one month, we’ve reached 7M people with lifesaving help.
But much more needed.
Now we need a movement. We need you.
We can’t end every crisis. But we can end someone’s. #87MillionLives
"It breaks my heart": UN humanitarian chief Tom Fletcher says "we're seeing staggering amounts of money, reportedly a billion dollars a day” being spent on the Middle East war, rather than addressing the world’s “huge humanitarian caseload.”
Women have just 64% of the legal rights men hold worldwide. For refugee women, the gap is even wider.
This #InternationalWomensDay, we demand RIGHTS. JUSTICE. ACTION. For ALL women and girls, including those who have been forced to flee.
#IWD2026
To stand with women and girls is to stand for humanity’s future.
Let's make International Women’s Day not just a day of recognition, but a daily commitment to act.
