@KinderJM24 When it comes to gamification, my biggest challenge is finding games that meet the needs of all students. I have a large population of students who are below the benchmark. I need to ensure the games I use have accessibility features so they can be successful. #wuedt6020
@MadiPSteele Madison, this is a great question. I like to promote strong team work skills. So when playing games, I give bonus points to teams who display great team work. I also tell students that I look at their accuracy when playing games, not just their scores! #wuedt6020
@emily_osterman1 To prevent my students from getting off task, I use Go Guardian. This app allows me to monitor student screens and their websites. I am able to "block" students from getting on sites other than the ones they're supposed to be on. This helps a lot! #wuedt6020
@pixi_rai Thanks for the recommendation! I am open to all platforms and apps that will engage the learning community. I took a look and it seems similar to like Facebook or Instagram. Does your school use this in place of those social medias? #wuedt6020
@Ms_VPalmer@KFranklin923 Your school's use of social media is great. Our school has one account for all uses. Does your school also post any academic posts as well? We post pictures of students daily to keep parents informed on what is going on in the classroom. #wuedt6020
@MeganBarne83105@KFranklin923 Social media does help to form connections. After COVID our connections were sort of diminished. Posting on socials helps to strengthen our connections with families. This is helpful to keep parents informed! #wuedt6020
@KFranklin923 Social media can be a valuable tool. My school and district use social media to share information with our community. Student achievements, announcements, upcoming events, and much more are posted on their socials. Families can read the posts and share them as well. #wuedt6020
@MadiPSteele@KFranklin923 Gamification in the classroom is such a great "teacher tool" for us to use. It makes learning fun and the students remain engaged. Outside of Kahoot and Blooket, I would suggest looking into https://t.co/oSAcydDtf6;I learned about it in a previous class! #wuedt6020
@KinderJM24@KFranklin923 I love that you chose a tool to boost social-awareness skills. If we incorporate these skills early on in school, I we will see better peer interactions in the older grades. It is awesome that we can use technology to help boost those skills! I will look into it also! #wuedt6020
@JJefferiesWilmU@KFranklin923 I think that using Minecraft in the classroom will result in an abundance of student buy-in. We know that our students play this game at home, so if we can use it in the classroom, that would boost engagement! I hope you find success with this!
@KFranklin923 When thinking of emerging trends to implement, there are two that stick out. The first one is gamification to help boost student engagement and incorporate more "fun" into lessons. I would also like to implement cyber security for kids to ensure they safe online. #wuedt6020
Through the Emerging Trends in Educational Technology course, I will be researching gamification. I want to learn ways to gamify learning to boost student engagement! #wuedt6020
