@OwenGregorian The unions system is not about performance because everyone does the same job. Seniority pay scales is based on how much you have to given to the union (dues).

@OwenGregorian Colleges / Universities started with teaching that didn't go well with an "internship" : philosophy, law and medicine. Languages and literature would be similar additions. Others (business, etc) probably started with people who didn't want to work but just dispense knowledge.
