Building an airplane house presents unique challenges compared to a traditional home. Aircraft are essentially large, thin aluminum tubes. Builders must use rigorous insulation, such as spray foam, to manage temperature and prevent moisture or condensation. Water and electrical lines run to the planes from surrounding areas. In Campbell’s case, he uses a primitive shower, while Axline integrated standard full-featured home plumbing. The planes are usually lifted and secured onto concrete or pipe pillars for proper weight distribution, and the tires are carefully dug around so the plane settles safely into the ground.
