Israeli authorities are directly involved in settler attacks that have killed, injured and displaced Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, while Israeli security forces provide protection to settlers, a UN inquiry said https://t.co/mtUK0nycep
I'm sick and tired of this narrative.
The "civil war" fear thing is the boogeyman that the key players have used for decades to maintain the status quo in Lebanon & preserve the system in its current form.
Pope Leo XIV on the papal plane to Spain:
โDo [young people] want to see Bad Bunny or do they want to see the pope? Many will go see Bad Bunny, but I think there will also be a few here to see the pope. And that says something, you know.โ
Netanyahu knows Americans are sick of funding Israelโs wars. So now heโs working with Congress to hide military aid inside Pentagon co-production deals.
That means MORE U.S. tax dollars for Israel, with even LESS oversight.
Not gonna happen!
Over the last 24 hours:
1. IDF soldier shot an killed a 7 months old Palestinian baby in Hebron
2. IDF kills a senior Lebanese military officer and two other Lebanese soldiers in an air strike in southern Lebanon
3. Israeli Settlers aided by at least one IDF soldier (see video) conduct a Pogrom in the Palestinian village of Huwara. 9 Palestinians wounded
@wmsts@MaxBlumenthal Separate issues that we like to conflate - to ask for Hezbollahโs disarmament and for the state to have monopoly on arms is not a call for normalization. Most Lebanese are pro state monopoly on arms (with exceptions ofc) and anti-normalization.
@Anti_State_0@wmsts@MaxBlumenthal People canโt seem to compute that the Lebanese people want this. This isnโt Iran: people can go freely protest and topple this government if they choose. This government enjoys massive support. Call the people names, call them brainwashed, call them Zios, but this is popular.
@Anti_State_0@wmsts@MaxBlumenthal Lebanon has an Israel problem but it ALSO has a Hezbollah problem. First resistance to bring back reoccupation Iโve seen.
Hezbollahโs weapons havenโt deterred Israel no matter how many times we scream โbut resistance!โ The south, dahieh, Beqaa are in worse shape than ever.
@Anti_State_0@wmsts@MaxBlumenthal Hezbollah had legitimate aims until 2000. The south was liberated in 2000. Every step since then has been a co-option of the state: weapons turned on fellow citizens, wars, staged coups, assassinations
Based on your comment, one would think Iran never armed Hezbollah, never built a state within a state, never turned Lebanese villages into missile depots, never used Lebanese territory to fight Iranโs wars, and never had Hassan Nasrallah openly describe Lebanon as part of a wider Iranian project.
One would also think Iran respected Lebanese sovereignty enough to recall its ambassador when he openly challenged the Lebanese government.
The level of gaslighting is impressive.
After setting the house on fire, Tehran now wants credit for calling the fire department.
80%+ of Sunnis, Christians and Druze agree with President Aounโs message and direction.
70-80% of Shias disagree.
Overall, 70%+ of Lebanese appear to agree with the Presidentโs view and trajectory.
I guess that makes most of us Lebanese unpatriotic traitors ๐โฆ
Or perhaps, finally, an eloquent President from the minority representing the majority.
