I'm blocked by @andyserling I saw today his mother died at age 94. I'm very sorry for his loss. My mom passed in 1979. She was 50. People say the hurt will fade with the passage of time. I'm still waiting. RIP to them both.

This type of vile cowardice, and viciousness, and hate, is as bad as anything that happens in this industry and at least some of us know some pretty bad things happen. I’ve been on this platform for quite some time. I decided early on I was not going to engage in discussion or verbal back and forth. Being in a public facing position I realize along with that comes criticism, scrutiny and public opinion, good and bad. I have had personal attacks, been told I hope you die on the way home etc. and of course the standard “you’re an idiot!” I don’t engage in responses and have come to understand this is part of the job and I’m fine with that. What I don’t find acceptable is when someone posts a totally fabricated vile and disgusting account about my wife and children. This is so far over the line it’s borderline criminal. To bring young children into this type of discourse is reprehensible and no regard for damage it might do going forward. Leave my family alone.

Maybe I am missing something here but let’s imagine that I am a trainer who, in past years, if I were to have won the Derby I would likely have chosen not to chase the Triple Crown because it would have meant that I would have had to run back just 2 weeks later in the Preakness and I typically prefer to give my horses 4-6 weeks between races and now they move the Preakness to 3 weeks after the Derby.

Will that change my behavior?

I don’t think so because 3 weeks is still probably not enough time and I am still not likely to chase the Triple Crown by running in the Preakness because even if I do win it, I then have to wheel back in 2 weeks to run in the Belmont.

I don’t see how this changes the trainer calculus much at all in terms of incentive to run in the Preakness. Especially, if there are now new bonuses to chase that exclude the Preakness and allow me to give my horse more time between races.

Wagering expert Jonathan Kinchen was asked his opinion on national TV of Race 6 at Saratoga and he said “this is a lock up race. You take the 2 and 3 in multi-race bets and lock it up.”

1) No multi-race bets are available on the race.

2) The 5 won.
