Canada’s Liberal government is planning to borrow so much money they will be forced to spend $80 BILLION each year just paying interest on the debt.

That’s taxpayer money that can’t go toward health care or education or infrastructure - that is instead being wasted.

I filed my nomination papers for Mayor of London!

More and more Londoners have been calling for greater transparency and accountability, lower taxes and a safer downtown. The misery that many are experiencing is real.

They want leadership that is clear and accountable to the taxpayers who are funding this $1.4B corporation.

A growing number have asked me to run for Mayor. And that is what I’ve decided to do.

Citizens feel completely left out and it’s imperative that we get back to actively working with citizens to address their concerns, especially when results have failed to meet public expectations.

Our primary duty is to ensure the accountability and transparency of the municipality's operations, which involves reassessing goals, openly engaging the public, and rebuilding a realistic, evidence-based plan.

Taxpayers count on their elected representatives to make sure that their hard earned money is well spent.

I have not supported many of London’s taxpayer funded programs because, as outlined in the last Audit Report, the program does NOT “assess whether projects deliver longer-term [] outcomes such as economic revitalization, or sustained improvements in [] conditions.”

At the Feb 3 SPPC meeting, item 2.4 was the Mayoral Direction for an Affordable Home Ownership Incentive Program. The report itself says that “Due to the urgency of the Mayoral Direction, Civic Administration has not undertaken a comprehensive, standalone evaluation of the proposed incentive program”. This is $5M in taxpayer money - in a housing crisis. And with a home building industry facing substantial job losses. The decision to spend $5M deserves careful consideration and a commitment to the best possible outcomes.

Fortunately, Council referred this program back to city staff to consider several options - one being a rebate program instead of incentives. And I’ve written a letter (see attached) explaining why I believe this alternative would be a much better choice. I cannot support either of the incentive programs (Feb 3 or Mar 23).

Londoners need results.
