Phrase of the year: predicting baby's birth is tough. Came out for chores and then 30 minutes later got a call that Rosie had a calf. Little bull calf, just waiting on a good suck but up and moving good.

Remember when predicting babies isn't a science? Well happy SURPRISE Sunday! Red was preg checked this fall to have a baby later this month, well apparently she stuck with the AI. Both mom and baby are happy and healthy and @faither101_ did a great job with first defense bolus.

I think she is about as excited to have this kid as we are! I've been mocked for having said, "we're close" for almost a month now, but predicting babies isn't an exact science. Some signs tonight show we are within a week, so final prep is happening! Let's go, Lady!

Animal Science class had the chance to sit in on the introductory webinar to the Red Angus Association. Learned a lot and looking forward to diving into registration tomorrow!

This morning, we preg checked the cows and was able to give some pre-wean shots on the calves. We are excited to be expecting 2 more calves this year! Advanced animal science class worked on calculating due dates of our animals. Thank you @FellowsFarm for your help!

Was your guess 8 days? That's right, the fodder has grown to an average height of 6" in 8 days. These two trays will provide nearly 25 pounds of fresh fodder to our animals this week. Come see us September 13th from 12 to 6 and learn more during our Ag Literacy & Safety day!

Fodder are plants grown hydroponically in a specific condition to reach optimal height in a shorter time frame. We feed fodder to all of our animals. Each day we are going to post progress.

Day 2: spreading seeds in trays. Germination already started. Guess on # of days to 6"?

@CrossCoFFA members and parents, please plan to join us August 16th for a BBQ Back-to-School meeting. We will be discussing activities and events for the year, along with some information for parents! We will start serving at 6:30 in the ag building, meeting to start at 7pm.

Living to Serve. That was our focus today.

We've learned that for some, service is to live a life for the nourishment of our bodies.

For the rest of us, service is sharing our bounties with those who may need it more.

Cross County ag and FFA members learned both today.

What a day! Students learned about the full food cycle as they processed chickens that they have been growing the last 10 weeks. We also focused on giving back as we donated nearly 300 lbs of school-raised beef and $250 of hygiene products to the York & Columbus Rescue Missions!

Come out to the Greenhouse Open House today from 1pm to 6 pm to get some beautiful annual bedding plants, grasses, baskets, and more! Other times this week: T-F 4-6; Sat 9-2; Sun 12-2.

Help the local York/Polk FFA chapters, and Lively Livestock 4-H, collect donations for livestock producers affected by the floods. You can make donation to a local FFA member or bring down to TSC/Orschlens this Thurs-Sat. Contact Mrs. Hackenkamp with questions!
