1000s yrs ago, the linguist Panini faced a huge infra constraint: the human memory. To preserve the entirety of Sanskrit grammar w/o losing a single bit of data, he wrote the Ashtadhyayi.

It is a framework of < 4000 algorithmic rules (sutras) that functions exactly like a modern compiler. It is so highly optimized that the entire source code of the language can be stored in a few KBs of memory.

Panini invented an algebraic notation system using auxiliary markers (Anubandhas) that act exactly like pointers & metadata tags in programming. He achieved infinite linguistic generation with near-zero compute cost.

There are frequent debates in India about what exactly forced the British to grant us Independence in 1947. It was a combination of factors that included a war-weary Britain, and the long-running political mobilisation in India. However, the fear of guerrilla warfare by the revolutionaries, and the possibility of a revolt in the Indian armed forces (esp after INA & Naval revolt) played a major role. We do not need to debate this because Prime Minister Attlee has explicitly noted this in the Transfer of Power papers (Nov 1946). Just look up Vol 9, doc 35, page 68 (199 in the pdf):

The Supreme Court has directed the Centre and all State governments along with all institutions receiving public funds, either partially or fully, to dissociate the chairperson of NCERT social science curriculum, Professor Michel Denino and his two other associate members who were behind the Sub-chapter in part 2 of the Class 8 NCERT Social Science textbook 'Corruption in the Judiciary', in any manner for the purpose of preparation of curriculum or finalisation of text book for the next generation.

A bench led by the Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant also directed all of the aforesaid authorities to disassociate Professor Denino, along with his team, from the preparation and inclusion of the Chapter, from rendering any service in any institution, which would mean payment to them from public funds.

“At the outset we have no reason to doubt that professor Michel Danino along with Ms Diwakar and Mr Alok Prasanna Kumar either does not reasonable knowledge about Indian judiciary or they deliberately knowingly misrepresented the facts in order to project a negative image of Indian judiciary before students of Class 8 who are at an impressionable age. There is no reason as to why such persons be associated in any manner with preparation of curriculum or finalisation of text book for the next generation. We direct union, all states, all institutions recieving state funds, to disassociate them from rendering any service which would mean payment to them from public funds”, the Court noted.

This is a great project to highlight the ancient origins of Indian seafaring and pioneer merchants who traded Indian goods first to Oman and then up the West Coast of the Persian Gulf to Mesopotamia where Indian merchant seals have been found in abundance.

What needs to be understood is that this was not an occasional trip but the first stage of the world‘s first complex maritime trading network, important for sustaining Mesopotamian cities and their civilisation when the area had suffered widespread 4th millennium BC drying and was by the 3rd millennium BC confined only to the areas adjacent to the rivers Tigris and Euphrates.

India played a hugely important role in sustaining it.
