@BenteLab @DrSusanNasif Found this on researchgate:
Abnormal life cycle of hyalomma dromedarii (acari: Ixodidae) on single-
humped camels in semnan, north-east of Iran
@BenteLab @DrSusanNasif Good question but reading a little bit on this it sounds like this tick can have a 1- 2- or 3 hosts life cycle. Maybe they can survive just by feeding on camels?
Excited to share latest work in @CellCellPress from our Prometheus consortium (pic). Our charge is to discover and develop human antibody-based therapeutics against emerging viral threats. See thread below.

We currently recruiting a postdoc fellow to work on the development of a vaccine for Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic virus (CCHFV). This is work is collaboration with UGA and will involve work in BSL-4. Interested candidate can apply here👇

@MattFrieman ACE2 can be shed from the cell surface by the TNF-alpha converting enzyme (TACE). This might contribute to blocking SARS-2 entry. Many surface proteins can be shed. This is particularly common when using over expression systems.
Current COVID and SARS-CoV-1 data suggest that vaccine approaches aimed at generating neutralizing antibodies might not be the best approach for COVID. Nice summary @VirusesImmunity
This is a cautionary tale of how anti-Spike antibody may make COVID disease worse. In this study, the authors show that anti-Spike IgG made SARS-CoV disease worse by switching macrophage from wound-healing to proinflammatory phenotype. A thread (1/n)

#COVID19#SOS To my professional colleagues & anyone out there who can help; we are seriously low on BSL-3 PPE. COVID-19 research will be compromised if we run out of them. #FaceShields#EyeProtection (googles), #Disposable booties, anything for additional barrier of prevention.
1/n Our work describing the adaptation of the CDC RT-qPCR assay for use with alternative Qiagen RNA extraction kits, as well as skipping the RNA extraction step entirely is live on bioRxiv. Pls retweet. #coronavirus#COVID19#StayAtHome https://t.co/cGK8O5lUts
@florian_krammer@MattFrieman Looking at the methods, they use a goat-anti mouse HRP conjugate. Does not sound optimal since those are Rhesus ... Any good study showing ELISA data in humans?
The latest episode of the #science#podcast This Week in Virology #TWiV is the biggest ever: 8 guests discuss development of antibody-based therapeutics against tick-borne Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus and rodent-borne hantaviruses https://t.co/uSMX1llw5N
We're hiring a research tech to do cloning and protein design for #Ebola and other #EmergingViruses@ljiresearch. Organized? Interested in #virology and #immunology? Want to work at a top-five research institute in La Jolla, Calif.? Email me thru https://t.co/8f7SzSCSHl Please RT
@BenteLab @brennanlab @ticks7 These antigen capture assays were quite ok back in the days. But yes you might have false negatives is there is not enough glycoproteins but there are ways to amplify signal that might help. Maybe just a strand specific rt-pcr could be enough?
