There are a lot of guesses in the replies so pardon me for not reading them all. Options are contracts between a buyer and a seller. Nothing Tesla or SpaceX can do can change the contract. The contracts have clauses that take into account the various types of mergers. Both the seller and the buyer are treated fairly. LEAPs and other options will not expire worthless as the expiration date is in the contract and the options will not expire based on what another entity does. In the likely cases for Tesla and SpaceX merging it will likely be like a stock split with the options still existing with only the values changing. Grok: "This decline in marriage is the primary driver of the graph's steep drop, as fewer people are married by 30. Notably, when controlling for marital status, home ownership rates among young adults (25-34) are actually higher today than in 1990 for both married (61.6% vs. 59.6%) and never-married (27.6% vs. 23.4%) groups. The overall dip in combined married-homeowners is largely due to fewer marriages, not reduced home ownership access for married couples."
We boomers married earlier. In my case at 20 years old with 3 years of engineering school ahead of me. Bought our first house, with 3 kids, one year after graduation. It was a small house that needed a lot of work that we did ourselves. We borrowed the down payment, our interest rate was 11%, and our payment was 30% of my gross income. Exactly how was this easier than for 30 year old's to buy houses today?
This is great. I have lost way more because of this rule than it has saved me. It has never. I am trading ES futures so I can test strategies in a small account. Now, if a trade goes bad and the account balance drops below $25K, we have to take the loss. You can't hedge or roll. $2K is much better but still stupid. The rule doesn't apply to future options that can be traded in a $1K account, so why have it.
Surviving the next 10 years will be the most important thing you can do for your healthspan. Trust me. We're going to achieve the longevity escape velocity. No doubt about it.
OK, tiny secret I haven’t talked about much:
My kids now go to Alpha School.
They absolutely love it.
AI crushes the traditional teacher-in-front-of-classroom model.
I wish certain routes were customizable in a Tesla.
Like I wish you could tell your Tesla “hey dude every time I go home from the gym can you go this way instead bc the route you take is not workin for us and has a lot of unprotected left turns”
If you can do a CSP, you can do an Iron Condor just as easily. Getting approval is easy.
Focus on high-value stocks for ICs because your collateral remains the same whether the stock is $10 or $1,000, but the premium is significantly higher.
If the IC premium is low, the CSP premium will be low too. Plus, when measuring returns as a percentage of collateral, ICs offer a much higher return than CSPs.
Trump called @ZelenskyyUa a dictator. *
Have we ever heard him call Putin one?
[ * Remember rule number two of my "Seven Rules for Understanding Trump" -- "He sometimes says incorrect things for effect." ] 😂😂😂😂
Did Kalanick really run a sizable tech company? Because his thinking is so sloppy it’s hard to believe he can tell a good idea from a bad one.
If all of California’s 340 billion annual light-duty vehicle miles transitioned to electric autonomous vehicles consuming an average of 200 watt-hours per mile the additional electricity demand would be 68 TWh/year. This is 24% of California’s 2023 electricity generation of 281 TWh. The unused generating capacity of California’s fleet of natural gas plants is currently 288TWh per year. This more than four times the electricity needs of an electrified auto fleet. This generating capacity is unused because current power consumption is peaky - we use a lot in the evenings but very little at night, so we turn off power plants at night and the average gas power plant in California only puts out 26% of it’s potential capacity. Similarly the power grid is largely unused at night because the nighttime load is small compared to the peak daytime capacity that the grid is built to deliver. By charging mainly when the grid and power plants are being underutilized a California EV fleet can be powered entirely by currently unused grid and generation capacity.
And BTW - this would be a huge win for the climate and for California’s air pollution even if all the EV miles were powered off of unused natural gas capacity. EV’s have a ‘well to wheels’ efficiency that is several times higher than that of ICE vehicles (80%-90% vs 15%-25%) so the total fossil fuel consumption drops by a factor of 4 or so if ICE vehicles are substituted with fossil fuel powered EVs. Additionally natural gas combustion in a power plant is much cleaner than gasoline/diesel combustion in a moving car. Total pollution due to light vehicle transportation would drop by an order of magnitude even if all the EVs were powered off of natural gas power plants.
The air in LA would become dramatically better as a result of this. And simultaneously the ROI on existing grid and power generation infrastructure would take a giant leap upwards.
"A loss is a loss whether you take it or not". This quote has had a profound effect on the way I trade. It does not mean every loss should be taken. To me, it means evaluate each loss to decide if the best recovery is to hang on or switch to something else.
I am honored to receive President Trump’s
@realDonaldTrump nomination to serve as the next Administrator of NASA. Having been fortunate to see our amazing planet from space, I am passionate about America leading the most incredible adventure in human history.
On my last mission to space, my crew and I traveled farther from Earth than anyone in over half a century. I can confidently say this second space age has only just begun. Space holds unparalleled potential for breakthroughs in manufacturing, biotechnology, mining, and perhaps even pathways to new sources of energy. There will inevitably be a thriving space economy—one that will create opportunities for countless people to live and work in space. At NASA, we will passionately pursue these possibilities and usher in an era where humanity becomes a true spacefaring civilization.
I was born after the Moon landings; my children were born after the final space shuttle launch. With the support of President Trump, I can promise you this: We will never again lose our ability to journey to the stars and never settle for second place. We will inspire children, yours and mine, to look up and dream of what is possible. Americans will walk on the Moon and Mars and in doing so, we will make life better here on Earth.
It is the honor of a lifetime to serve in this role and to work alongside NASA’s extraordinary team to realize our shared dreams of exploration and discovery.
Grateful to serve, Jared
And just like that it’s December🌲
Took this pic when I was with my Dad this week. He is slowly healing. It reminded me that what we give is more important than what we buy ourselves. I have contributed 6 figures to charities this year and I volunteer 2-3 hours/week
Give back❤️
There was a time when I was trading the whole time the market was open. I felt I needed to be in trades all the time. I've finally matured to the point that I can take a day off after making a good return and not worry about how much I could have made with the $TLSA moves today. I'm much more successful now.
