Frightening how quickly invasive species can spread and the devastating impact they can have on native communities. Highlights vital need for good biosecurity and field monitoring to form an early warning system so control is possible.

Herbarium specimens are the evidence for the existence of a particular plant species at a specific place and time and are crucial for monitoring. DNA will provide the evidence for the specific species being monitored.
