Tigers getting some heat for dealing Skubal and Mize when they're now judged by some to be among the AL's best. Nothing has changed: Tigers needed quantity, and quality, to be playoff-grade in seasons ahead and got it in their deals. If they're all that good, they still will win a playoff ticket and be competitive in October. They weren't changing anything by going after a reliever or two, which most teams were also chasing. Supply was short and any trade price would have lightened a farm that can't afford depletion. They played this right.

I feel when Illitch brought in Harris his objective was to make the Tigers the next Brewers/TB moneyball model.
This is great for being competitive but the jury is out on championships.
