There is simply no available space to make American fire trucks any smaller. Every square inch is occupied with a large amount of specialized equipment that’s unique to us. Elsewhere people just die because they can’t hold the needed equipment on their smaller trucks.
#MeteorSighting: Eyewitnesses in New England and @NOAA’s GOES-19 satellite reported a bright fireball on Saturday, May 30, at 2:06 p.m EDT accompanied by a loud noise. The meteor appears to have fragmented at an altitude of 40 miles over northeast MA and southeast NH. The energy released at breakup is estimated to be equivalent to about 300 tons of TNT, which accounts for the loud noise.
Eyewitness accounts supplied by the American Meteor Society.

The Wheeling Suspension Bridge (first pic) is one of the most underappreciated engineering landmarks in the country.
When finished in 1849 it was the longest suspension bridge in the world and the 1st major bridge across the Ohio River, and any major river west of the Appalachians.
It linked together the National Road over the Ohio, the 1st major federally funded road project, and was strategically vital to the Union Army during the Civil War.
Legal fights over its interference with steamboat navigation shaped the buildout of the country's railroad network and other future river crossings.
And its structural design significantly influenced the Brooklyn Bridge, which might be the country's best appreciated engineering landmark.
It’s closed to car traffic today and in a declining out of the way city so many people have never heard of it. But it’s an important part of our national heritage for many reasons.
