And she helped awaken us to problems like domestic violence, the lack of affordable child care, and unfair hiring practices that had too often been ignored or overlooked.

Gloria really was larger than life. Today, generations of women are walking a little taller and aiming a little higher because of what she fought for and achieved. Michelle and I are thinking of her family today, and everyone — women and men — who were inspired by her towering example.

In May 1963, Birmingham turned fire hoses on CHILDREN — water pressure in a range firefighters used to strip bark from trees and loosen mortar from brick.

Then it jailed them. By the hundreds. Some as young as grade school.

The Children's Crusade: with adult marchers exhausted and jailed, Birmingham's Black children walked out of school and into the movement, wave after wave, singing. Bull Connor's answer made the world's front pages — hoses slamming small bodies down pavement, police dogs lunging on leashes into teenagers.

Day one: hundreds of children arrested. Within days: on the order of two thousand, packed into cells and a fairground stockade in the heat.

And you're calling Greenland poorly run?
Greenland has universal healthcare. Free education. One of the lowest incarceration rates in the world. Nobody goes bankrupt there because they got sick. Nobody dies in a waiting room because their insurance said no.

We’ve become accustomed to unlikely friendships – ostriches and elephants, warthogs and buffaloes, hippos and elephants, to name just a few. So, while a black rhino and a zebra might seem an unlikely pairing, Tytan and Notty are two friends who have become almost inseparable.

They do almost everything side by side, despite being built very differently and having very different personalities. Notty is the energetic one – forever on the move, quick to canter off and greet passing zebra before hurrying back. Tytan is the opposite: slow and steady, happiest grazing or dozing in the sun, breaking into a jog only when Notty dashes away without him.
