Starting a street fight is foolish. You have no idea who the other person is, what they are carrying, or what they are capable of. The stranger you shove over an insult might be armed, might have a concealed carry, might be trained in jiu jitsu, or might simply have friends nearby that you did not notice. Even if you are physically stronger, one unlucky punch, fall onto concrete, or blow to the head can cause permanent brain damage or death.

There is also no referee, padded floor, weight class, or guaranteed stopping point in a real fight. Weapons can appear, bystanders can join in, and a minor argument can become a felony case within seconds. Even “winning” can mean thousands of dollars in legal fees, losing your job, being sued, going to prison, or living with the fact that somebody was seriously injured over something trivial.

Walking away from a potential fight is not cowardice. It is recognizing that your pride is worth far less than your life, freedom, health, and future.
