I’m going to throw out any attempt at not being biased because I’ll never not be biased about Rocco Becht.

I had a unique perspective on Rocco. I didn’t just hear his leadership in postgame interviews. I saw it in the tunnel when he waited to high five every single teammate. I saw it in how he carried himself on the sideline. And most of all, I saw it in his selflessness when I had the opportunity to work his football camp in Perry.

Rocco didn’t let a single kid miss a photo with him before camp started. I took every individual photo of him with those kids, and it was genuinely one of the most heartwarming days I’ve had doing this job.

Rocco is a special kind of leader. I’ll miss him not just as a player, but as a person. NIL has changed a lot about this job, but I’m grateful it gave me the chance to truly know the entire Becht family.

The first day I met them in person was that Perry football camp. I had interacted with them on Twitter, but before I could even make it across the field to introduce myself, DeeAnn was already pulling me into the biggest hug.

That’s the Becht family. And that’s who Rocco is. Wherever life takes him next, I’ll be cheering for him and that entire family.
