Is the pain of the last 2 years setting up an opportunity for the next 3? 📈
Going through Pankaj Tibrewal’s newsletter & a historical trend stands out:
Nifty is currently -14% on a rolling 2-year basis
There have been 7 instances in 25 years when Nifty’s 2-year rolling drawdown exceeded 15%
🤞 In every instance, the subsequent 3-year returns were strongly positive. Average 3-year return: 87%
Conclusion: History doesn’t guarantee a repeat but the risk-reward is looking increasingly favorable.
Simply put: The rear-view mirror often looks worst when the road ahead is becoming more interesting.

The best time to buy expensive growth stories is when the market is bleeding!
CDMOs, high-margin Pharma, Defence, EMS and Precision Engineering are themes where valuations are often rich, but the real opportunity emerges when the market throws the baby out with the bathwater.
Unfortunately, most investors do exactly the opposite. They chase these stories on green days and dump them on red days!
The real money is made when you have the conviction to buy quality during panic, not when everyone is celebrating it.
Paul Volcker took inflation from 14.8% to 3% in 3 years, and Ray Dalio went broke betting the economy would crash instead.
Years later, Dalio sat across from Volcker and asked him how he held on.
In March 1980, inflation hit 14.8%. Volcker saw it speeding up near 15%, and he figured that if the Fed pussyfooted much longer it would reach 20%.
So he tightened, "like a bulldog biting at it straight out."
Rates went to 20%. Unemployment went to 10%. It was the worst downturn since the Great Depression.
There were protests. Farmers parked tractors outside the Federal Reserve. He held.
By 1982, even Volcker was worried. Unemployment was finally rising, and "the damn inflation rate wasn't coming down." Backing off would have wasted all of it. "I felt we were stuck."
That is the year in the post below. Dalio ran the debt numbers, watched Mexico default in August, and bet the economy and the market would go down a lot.
Summer 1982 was also when Volcker's squeeze started to work. The money supply came down, then inflation came down. By the end of the year, the recession looked finished.
By 1983, inflation was 3%, and a decade of strong growth followed.
Dalio was right about the debt. He was wrong about how long Volcker would hold.
The $4,000 loan from his dad paid for that lesson.

There was a legacy waste of 30 years in Jalandhar Cantonment which was not touched by anyone as it was in a corner and foul smell emanated from the area.
My team put in Herculean efforts and the land was reclaimed. Tree plantation was done and it was made a park for people to take walks.

TELANGANA : LIFE IMPRISONMENT FOR WIFE & 9 MEMBERS OF HER FAMILY FOR BRUTALLY MURDERING HER HUSBAND AMIDST MARITAL DISPUTE
Dutta Srinivas was married just for a year when his wife left him & filed several cases on him and his entire family
A friend of his, who used to attend the same court tells me he was a kind and simple man who was fighting these false cases with all honesty
However, Dutta made a mistake of trusting his wife & her family who proposed attending a festival together. He went to his in-laws place for the same where he was beaten up brutally, hit with stones and chappals, his throat strangled and basically reduced to a pulp. All of it got captured on a CCTV footage
Now a court has sentenced his wife and all in-laws who murdered him to life imprisonment
Thanks @iAbhinayD@the_hindu for detailing what happened to Dutta and this report on the case
