A Regional Conference on Election Preparedness for Municipal Elections – 2026 was convened at Guntur under the guidance of Shri Suresh Kumar S. Nair, IAS, Principal Secretary, MA&UD, Dr. P. Sampath Kumar, IAS, Commissioner & Director of Municipal Administration (CDMA) and Shri S.Ravindra Babu, joint Director (CDMA)

The conference deliberated on strengthening inter-departmental coordination, reviewing critical election preparedness measures, and establishing a comprehensive framework for the smooth, efficient, transparent, and well-coordinated conduct of the electoral process across the region.

Hon’ble Chief Minister Sri Nara Chandrababu Naidu Garu, along with Hon’ble Minister Sri Ponguru Narayana (MA&UD), Sri S. Suresh Kumar Nair, IAS, Principal Secretary (MA&UD), and SAC Chairman Shri Kommareddy Pattabhiram, participated in the **Swachha Andhra Awards 2026 Ceremony held in Vijayawada. Addressing the gathering, the Hon’ble Chief Minister emphasised that cleanliness must become a shared social responsibility and a regular part of public life. He called upon citizens to dedicate at least one day every month to cleanliness and actively contribute to creating a cleaner Andhra Pradesh. He highlighted that cleanliness goes beyond keeping roads and public spaces clean, stressing the need to view waste as a resource and create wealth through effective waste management.
The Hon’ble Chief Minister also congratulated the award recipients and appreciated the dedicated efforts of those contributing to the Swachha Andhra movement. As part of Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2026, a statewide Mega Cleanliness Drive was conducted across all Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) of Andhra Pradesh on 1 October 2026. Municipal staff, SafaiMitras, officials and citizens came together with enthusiasm, dedicating one hour to Shramdaan and taking collective action to clean public spaces, streets and neighbourhoods.

This statewide participation reflects the power of collective action, with communities and local administrations working together towards cleaner, healthier and more sustainable cities.

SafaiMitra Suraksha Evam Samman Shivir | Honouring the Hands That Keep Our Cities Clean

As part of Swachhata Hi Seva 2026, Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) across Andhra Pradesh organized the ‘SafaiMitra Suraksha Evam Samman Shivir’ on 30 September 2026, reaffirming their commitment to the health, safety, and dignity of municipal sanitation workers.

The statewide camps included comprehensive health check-ups, distribution of essential safety equipment, and special felicitation ceremonies to recognize the dedicated service of SafaiMitras. Municipal officials, healthcare professionals, and citizens came together to support and honour the individuals who work tirelessly to keep our cities clean and healthy.

The initiative reflects a collective commitment to the well-being, safety, and empowerment of SafaiMitras, whose everyday efforts form the foundation of a cleaner, healthier, Andhra Pradesh.

Mangalagiri Earns Global Recognition with a World Record in Waste Management.

Mangalagiri Tadepalli Municipal Corporation (MTMC) has created a remarkable milestone with its Swachha Paathashala initiative, bringing together 37,145 students and 37,145 households in a large-scale dry waste collection drive.

As part of Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 students from 170 schools actively participated by collecting segregated dry waste from their homes and bringing it to their schools. The campaign turned young citizens into ambassadors of source segregation, inspiring families and communities to adopt responsible waste-management practices.

The mega collection drive, conducted on 30 September 2026, achieved approximately 80 MT of recyclable dry waste, earning official recognition as a World Record by the World Book of Records, India

A proud moment for Mangalagiri–Tadepalli and Andhra Pradesh demonstrating how collective action, student participation and community ownership can drive meaningful change towards a cleaner, greener and more sustainable future
