@LundukeJournal Well, 98% of users (incl. Plasma, etc.) are used to
- minimize/maximize buttons
- desktop icons
- system tray
- sane & easy to launch/navigate app launcher
- basic appearance configuration (like accent colors or plain color background)
- ...
And GNOME still gives a duck.
@TSucrose68657 @LundukeJournal@probonopd Yep, that's quite stupid, esp. when it comes to file access. If we want this, I simply like more the macos/android/(whatever) approach, where you basically cannot have access to interesting places (desktop, docs, ...) by default and need to approve it with the first access.
@probonopd@LundukeJournal And that's the problem. Second option goes against the idea of AppImage as "simple and easy way how to run apps" and first one depends on someone paying attention. If you have 5 apps with this lib, you depend on 5 someones, who are not related (unlike distro maintainers)
@LundukeJournal@probonopd Now, there's CVE in this lib - devs make 3.14.1 fixing given exploit. Regular distros get the update sooner or later. Because they (at least) regularly update stuff. How's your flatpak/AppImage?
@LundukeJournal@probonopd Say - you want a feature ABC provided by a libabc-3.14. Regular distro with regular dependency tree would state a dependency on this package. Both AppImage and Flatpak (given libabc is not included in one of their runtimes) would just pack *some version* of the lib.
@friktata@dhh@Cloudflare Don't need to reinstall whole system - I run just the installation script on top of my arch installation. It basically adds configs (user ones like for hyprland or nvim, or system-wide like plymouth splashscreen during boot), and default set of more or less useful software. Done.
@GeorgesDuroyTV @friktata@dhh@Cloudflare discord is "web app" in terms of omarchy - so just browser window with website. same as X, grok, basecamp, etc. You can then add / remove them using menu -> Install/Remove -> Web apps.
@jvskriubakken@dhh There's however this difference, that X became an "abyss" because it mostly gave up on any moderation and BS became "abyss" because of strongly enforced moderation.
@GuyMontag1957@TinaBluemelova@rez_alice Finština si na tomto taky postavila živnost :) Ale to nic nemění na původní myšlence, že "čeština je nepříliš použitelná pro běžnou komunikaci" je prostě blbost.
