"I think he's been misinformed by his staff."
Sen. Budd says President Trump is misinformed in his push to delay a federal ban on some types of hemp.
He has an amendment to get rid of the delay.
@SenTedBuddNC's interview with @TimBoyumTV airs tonight at 7 on @NCCapTonight. #ncpol
"Zero is the wrong number."
I asked @SenTedBuddNC how much Helene recovery money he would like in the president's supplemental funding request before he votes for it.
More tonight on @NCCapTonight at 7. #ncpol
🧵Yesterday, the Office of Management and Budget submitted a supplemental request to Congress to cover unanticipated funding needs related to operational costs from Operation Epic Fury and to help American farmers.
I fully support President Trump’s request to replenish our munitions stockpiles & strengthen our military, as well as provide economic assistance to farmers impacted by disaster & unfair trade practices.
I am disappointed, however, that the supplemental request did not include funds for Western North Carolina's significant ongoing recovery needs. 🔽
I first met @posglen about a month after I came to Washington as a political consultant. Our first meeting was somewhat curt. He gave me advice on pitching business, without me asking. I was too dumb to ask, as he was an outstanding pitcher. We both built books of biz in Virginia, among other places, & over the next 27 years we worked together on a bunch of races, and won almost all of them - which I can't say about many people. As today's young people come into our business, I hate they cannot learn the urgency Glen had. More than anyone I have met in our line of work, he did not let grass grow under his feet. In his hey day, you'd be on the phone with him and he'd say something like: "gotta go; the congressman in Syracuse just retired so I'm heading to the airport." And he would hang up immediately. He won some work because he was good, and some work because he got there first. He was similarly capable of swift decisions in campaigns, without second-guessing. It was a great and radical lesson, and one I do not follow often enough. Late in his life, Glen spent a lot of time touring the world with his wife, Carol, and luckily he took pictures and wrote a blog about it so we could "go" with them. I think he got through his bucket list - and as a 56 year old, I will try to learn that Glen lesson, too. May God bless the Bolger family, his founding partners @KCkid & @pollsterguy, and everyone else at Public Opinion Strategies, the juggernaut they built. Welcome home, Glen.
Congress’s job should be to create every incentive for pilots to equip and enable ADS-B capabilities in flight to prevent tragic accidents in the sky. https://t.co/jL4XBRKv90
None of the blessings we enjoy as Americans would endure without the men & women who dedicate their lives to defending them. On Memorial Day, we remember that our freedom has been secured at a great cost, & every day we strive to live in a way that honors that sacrifice.
Terrible news. He was such a great guy. Got to be on his show, and he was always quick to call back when I had a South Plains question. Man loved his community. Going to miss him
Thank you to @SenTedBuddNC and @SenatorShaheen for introducing bipartisan legislation to support our Airmen & the future of American airpower.
This three-bill package tackles key priorities: ✅ Multiyear procurement authority ✅ Authorization for 200 new F-15EXs ✅ Aircrew manning & retention improvements ✅ Boosting the minimum fighter fleet to 1,369 aircraft
These measures will close critical gaps in both equipment & manpower while enhancing the quality of life for the entire force. The future of U.S. airpower is looking stronger than ever. @SenAngusKing@SenEricSchmitt@SenatorRounds@SenKevinCramer
Taxpayers pay billions to subsidize Amtrak, even as they boast growing demand & riders.
Just as Biden’s DOJ shouldn’t have prevented Spirit Airlines from merging with viable partners, Americans shouldn’t be on the hook for another failing business as its competition thrives.
NEW @WSJopinion piece:
How two hours, snow boots, & basic oversight turned a $4M broadband project into $0.
D.C. asked @NTIAgov for $4M to connect just 55 “unserved” locations.
That’s $70K each in one of the most broadband-dense cities in America.🚩
Something didn’t add up.🧵
NEW on @FoxNews - At @club4growth Economic Summit in Florida, @SenTedBuddNC tells me "we have significantly degraded Iran's ability to shoot back at us," but emphasizes "we’re not up for forever wars. We want to get in, get this thing done, get out" https://t.co/LkROTccGNM
