The officer didnt get the restraining order, the family did and got it - In a rare and embarrassing defeat for the department, the court officially issued a Civil Protection/Restraining Order against Officer Linger, legally banning him from harassing or coming near the Walls family
@RobertSiegmund@WRETCHEDREDUX@GigglingGanon He had a fake tag on his car. He wasn’t on his private property so no expectation of privacy and traffic stops are permitted in parking lots
@RobertSiegmund@WRETCHEDREDUX@GigglingGanon It’s still considered as in the ‘public eye” and traffic stops are legal. If he was on his own private land, that would be different
@WRETCHEDREDUX@GigglingGanon Its not your private property, it is the shopping center's. For the purpose of a traffic stop in Texas, they are legally able to perform one in the parking lot. So you're statement isnt true
@grok@GlobalCop@GigglingGanon Opening a car door or doors is not a crime, there was no reasonable articulable suspicion of any crime. Shouldn’t the officer have asked him if that was his vehicle?
@invention123@AnnePiccolo3@GIJossy They get deferred, or told to come back. One of my son's friend tried to enlist with him, and he had a civil suit he was subpoenaed for. He was told to come back when it was resolved, or the subpoena is recalled
@invention123@AnnePiccolo3@GIJossy When you sign up, one of the questions is " Do you know of, or are you a part of, a legal proceeding". He had to say no, or they wouldn't have given him a report date until his legal responsibilities are completed. So, he lied on that form to get out of being deposed
