My name is Darren and I am healing from complex post traumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety among many other mental, emotional health disorders, spondylolisthesis chronic low back pain, multiple addictions all as the direct result of complex childhood trauma including mental, emotional, physical, financial, religious, sibling sexual abuse, neglect, abandonment, betrayal, gaslighting and scapegoating. If I didn’t have the courage to speak up about all of this I would be suffering in silence like I did for decades. Speaking up has lightened the load, it’s all still there but being open about it has helped me to not feel as alone with it all as I once did. Men need to know it’s okay to speak up and understand that ultimately all mental health challenges are the result of childhood trauma and embracing healing until they can say I am learning to love the child in me. #mensmentalhealthmonth #lovethechildinme https://t.co/Ren6zNlFLR
When you hear someone over-explaining, know one (or all) of these is true:
1). They’ve often had their reality denied.
2). They've been hurt in unpredictable ways & believe it was because they didn't explain better.
3). They've grown up being ignored.
Please be patient.

Healing from trauma is not an overnight process. It takes time. And it’s okay not to be positive every single day. You’re only human.
Understand that your feelings are valid and everyone’s healing process is different.
So, take your time and until you’re ready, let it be.

Dopamine Surge Boosts Brain’s Ability to Adapt
A new PET imaging study has directly linked dopamine release to cognitive flexibility — the brain’s ability to adapt to changing tasks.
Researchers found that when participants switched between different cognitive tasks, dopamine levels increased in the ventromedial prefrontal cortex.
The more dopamine released, the more efficiently participants were able to switch tasks, showing a clear neurochemical basis for behavioral flexibility.
This marks the first time real-time dopamine responses to task switching have been observed in humans.
The findings could explain why disorders such as ADHD, Parkinson’s disease, and schizophrenia — which often feature dopamine disruptions — also impair cognitive flexibility.
These insights may lead to more targeted treatments to improve flexible thinking in neurological and psychiatric disorders.
