@cselley OMG if there was a definition in the dictionary of repeatedly shooting oneself in the foot it would be Canada. This stuff here, this should be the easy part. π
@ryangerritsen Why canβt he just go away? I was beginning to recover. Why is anyone taking advice from a man who literally presided over a failed decade in Canada?
@KronisTamara Excellent questions and also are these housing units truly suitable for families as the PM referenced. As I understand it the majority are one bedroom units or studios?
@brianlilley Donβt worry Bryan, all is well. The Liberals will spend the next four days defending it by saying GDP per capita itβs not a great measure π
@ronmortgageguy@DanKnightMMA@scoopercooper Ron, what is so special about Vancouver? Should we expect the same handouts to developers across the country who built these dog crates as you call them? Is this just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to these bailouts?
@mortimer_1@Prominent_Bryan This has to be the dumbest Liberal policy without question of my lifetime and that bar is a very high one. This is so completely tone deaf, truly remarkable π³
@JonFraserTF Also why are Vancouver developers special? The same dumb business decisions to build these condos were made across the country. They were only ever viable for purchase by foreign buyers as investments for AirBnB or to take advantage of new Canadian renters. Who is next in line?
@colewhogan@cbcwatcher@calder_mchugh@POLITICOMag Do you really feel our media does their job holding him to account? I often listen to his responses and as a non journalist can think of 2 or 3 follow ups to force a critical response and they never come π
This announcement is a complete disaster. Decision after decision after decision, this obsessively interventionist Carney Liberal government is driving Canada into an ever-deepening economic crisis.
Hereβs an idea: Instead of inserting the federal government into every single aspect of the economy using hard-earned taxpayer dollars, just get out of the way.
Start by removing massive drags on the economy like C-48 and C-69, and then go from there.
@adamchamb@markstrahl Agree. Continues to amaze me that such consequential decisions can be made with no discussion, no debate just βhey was chatting with some development buds and they are in tough so we are going to float them a bunch of your hard earned tax dollars ok?β
@DavidColetto How would you rate the bail out of BC developers in terms of this? To me that move is completely out of left field and will not be viewed as steady or competent by Canadian taxpayers.
