Juneteenth marks the celebration of America's second independence day.
Like the people in this photo—celebrating the day in 1900—we know that progress hasn't made our union perfect. But we can recommit to reaching toward that more perfect union together.
Happy Juneteenth.

I am saddened to learn of the passing of Congressman David Scott.
He served Georgia with dedication for decades and leaves a legacy of public service that touched communities across our state.
Congressman Scott spoke about the impact my mother, Coretta Scott King, had on his life and leadership. He shared that she invited him to speak at Ebenezer as a young man entering public life, an encouragement he remembered as a defining moment.
That kind of investment in others was one of my mother’s gifts, and Congressman Scott’s life is a testament to how far that encouragement can reach.
My prayers are with his family, loved ones, colleagues, and all who mourn his passing.
This is what we did in school back in the day. It was one of the home economic courses called Cooking I II and III. What the schools stopped teaching can be taught at home...for everyone.
@historical_Afr This is why Hitler adopted U.S. terror tactics. White nationalist domestic terrorists, right-wing populists and ultra nationalists are savages. The wealthier savages are, the more evil they are.
