3rd January 1911 and the Siege of Sidney Street - a dramatic climax to the hunt for those involved in the murder of three City of London police officers the previous month. And, for me, an event that has provided history with one of its best photobombs (look on the roof) 👍 #OTD
Great to see this new book "The Coolie's Great War" by Radhika Singha - "A spectacular history of the hundreds of thousands of unacknowledged Indian labourers who kept the Allied supply lines flowing in the First World War"

The Lochnagar Crater Foundation - Somme Memorial - History https://t.co/wUEPXxQeNB As ever on 1st July a message of Peace and Reconciliation on this 104th anniversary posted this morning following a small commemoration at the Crater
Such an informative talk & thanks for the detailed notes too bringing names on the Memorial to life, inhabiting the streets of Penge as they went off to war.
Brilliant and illuminating talk as always from @pengeology this evening. A Remembrance talk hosted by @PengePartners, commemorating the local men and woman who served and died in the First World War. #RemembranceDay2019
