Probably near impossible to find even a single specialty department at Kelsey-Seybold, MD Anderson, or Houston Methodist which doesn't have doctors on H1-B visas. This fact is strongly correlative with Houston having one of the finest hospital systems in the world. -OS

Governor Abbott is continuing his campaign to make Texas hostile to anyone who doesn’t look like him. Combined with the racist anti-alien land law Republicans passed this session, the message is clear: if you’re an immigrant who followed every rule, Texas Republicans still don’t want you here.

in grad school, i wrote 17 pages of a 25-page article from ~7pm - 4am. got a 98, was urged to submit it to a conference, got into the conference. at the airport, had a morning bloody mary, missed my flight, talked my way onto another airline, made it in time to present. no AI!
