@matthew_loftus How to raise my children with a Christian worldview and hopefully a love of Christ and acceptance of his love, I really don’t know what I’m doing over here to hopefully avoid raising Pharisees or a faith that doesn’t really stand against reason OR truth.
@matthew_loftus I really wish a good book or resource or podcast existed that encouraged parents to raise their children in the faith, but not in a creepy, fear based way. I know this type of thing is best done in local community but as a parent who is trying to navigate
@hayesplace@lukedsimmons@danwhitejr And understanding that different perspectives don’t always equate to being unsafe or threatened. The issue I have with those who belittle them feeling unsafe is they really don’t seem to care to figure out how to actually disciple and engage in ways that would reopen dialogue.
@hayesplace@lukedsimmons@danwhitejr A commitment to “safe conversations” doesn’t have to mean tiptoeing around feelings. Any productive conversation involves a commitment to truly understand a viewpoint and represent it accurately. I do think we owe it to future generations to instill resiliency
@lukedsimmons@danwhitejr I mean this graciously, but first off it would have to be an invitation that doesn’t start with a mocking of their feeling unsafe. I think “unsafe” is often incorrectly used to describe feeling uncomfortable or disgusted, but I do think people would engage if they knew
@matthew_loftus In my circles, the homeschooling parents I know aren’t so much “my kids are so smart and better” it’s more like “my kids are holier because we’re protecting them from the devil” and the insinuation is that I’m comfortable exposing them to demonic forces at public school.
@jenniferwilkin And I’m still not sure what evil indoctrination is actually happening in schools? Were military and have had kids in 5 different schools across 5 different areas and I’ve failed to see it so far? Most teachers I’ve encountered are more worried about teaching fundamentals.
@jenniferwilkin priorities! But I also am very disturbed by the amount of people feeling swindled by having their tax dollars go towards the education of hundreds/thousands of children in their community.
@matthew_loftus What happened with the PR for doctors that the default messaging is that they refuse testing and scans because they don’t care to address issues? Is it because alternative medicine practitioners do blood work and scans at every appt?
@Angry_Staffer So is anything going to happen to her or are they just going to keep calling out bad things and saying “that wasn’t good!” without doing a single thing about it
@alheartsoulmind@stevecusswords@megbasham The more I read from Meg Basham and her tribe, the more I see her and others desperation for attention and affirmation. They don’t actually care about fruit or faithfulness to God or his word. They care about engagement and stats.
@OrangeWoodGBO@foreverimbetter Never? Have you ever heard of the scientific method? I use that all the time. Education shouldn’t be based off of a subjective opinion about if a subject is important or not. Your original statement was objectively dumb.
@Corbienest But before I knew all of that, it just stuck with me that I wasn’t a worthy enough friend because I wasn’t a girls girl, so therefore I wasn’t the right kind of girl. I didn’t really understand what I had to do to be considered a girls girl either 🤷♀️
@Corbienest I remember going on a walk with a “friend” and getting a lecture about how I wasn’t enough of a “girls girl” and it’s really hard to defend me because of it (she was at the time holding a secret that my bf at the time cheated on me with our other friend 🤣)
