See how every ex girlfriend of his talk about him being the supportive friend even after they broke up? Yeah, some of you should come to some conclusions probably.
Thinking of Louis & Harry & Niall & Zayn right now. Despite what has been reported lately, they were thrust into an industry so young, with no knowledge and no safety net. They experienced many things together as a band.
Sending the boys all my love
For all of its faults, 2010-2015 was such a magical, golden moment in time. And for those of us who were apart of it, feel solace in the fact we will always have that and it will always be apart of our lives growing up
@ManchesterSU Celina, thank you for your dedicated service as the Wellbeing & Liberation Officer—I admire your commitment and can't wait to read your reflections on the transformative work you've accomplished during your term. 👏🌟
Over the past few months, I have been reviewing the University’s offer of support for Black students (or lack of) and following up on policies students passed through Senate/Union Assembly in previous years.
I reviewed some of the Union’s wellbeing initiatives to ensure they are effective, inclusive, and accessible. I also worked alongside the University to understand how we can create a stronger sense of belonging at university and prevent students from falling through the cracks.
I collaborated with the Union’s Liberation Team to redesign our approach to Liberation and create a new framework to support trans and gender-diverse students. It accounts for the whole student experience and provides guidance on reviewing progress and future lobbying work.
Inclusivity & Access
I worked with university senior leaders to assess the findings of the Accessibility Report led by the Disabled Students’ Society and progress on the implementation of the findings.
Students’ access to health has also been a key priority, with particular focus on for trans students. I developed an action plan with students and staff, taking into consideration what was feasible for us to do as an institution and what was a bigger national issue.
I made the Union to install free period products in their toilets before Freshers Week. I have also been working with the University to extend this initiative to all campus buildings and Halls of Residence – while also ensuring these places are accessible and gender-neutral
I was part of various committees focused on EDI where I lobbied the University to collect and analyse data in an intersectional manner. My biggest achievement was the University recognising the impact of the criteria for gendered scholarships on gender diverse and trans students.
Examples of achievements stemming from this Charter are 1) the review of the pipeline to access student support, 2) review of the triage system of the Counselling and Mental Health Service and 3) substantial work on improving the accessibility of support.
3. Supporting students
I have been working with University departments to help them adopt a ‘whole-university approach’ to mental health and wellbeing, following Student Minds standards.
