I think a lot about Alan Moore’s, “It’s not the job of the artist to give the audience what the audience wants. If the audience knew what they needed, they wouldn’t be the audience. They would be the artist.”
George Lucas explains that “the audience doesn’t know what they want to see” in a new interview.
“If they don’t like a character, that’s interesting, and as a filmmaker I want to find out why. But when the studios hear that, they take the wrong message. They let the audience actually make the movie. Of course, now they go crazy with that. Now, it’s all about what the fans think. That isn’t how you make the movie. You make a movie by finding someone that knows how to make movies, that has a story to tell and is passionate about it.”

James Cameron: “In STAR WARS the good guys are the rebels, they’re using asymmetric warfare against a highly organized empire. I think we call those guys terrorists today.”
George Lucas: “When I did it they were Viet Cong. That was the whole point.”
People forget there were literal petitions created by Batman fans to get Heath Ledger fired and letters were being sent to WB to remove Nolan from the project because people were so angry he casted Heath. Then it went on to become one of the most successful movies of all time with Heath giving a performance that has yet to be topped. Bro does not give a fuck about angry Twitter users. He knows his work will speak for itself and make all of these people look like idiots.
Timothée Chalamet says the message of ‘DUNE: PART 3’ is to beware of charismatic leaders.
“Frank Herbert wrote Messiah as he wanted to warn the world what can happen when people blindly follow leaders. Even the good can be corrupted.”
