Check out my paper in Ecological Entomology! We found that the flies were great at adjusting their wing size in response to their environment and that although D. suzukii is a highly successful invader, it may not be completely suitable to the environments it colonizes.
The roles of phenotypic plasticity and adaptation in morphology and performance of an invasive species in a novel environment #invasivespecies#entomology#ecology#adaptation https://t.co/5P9PBYx7vl
Another great lead from @EvoEcoEliza looking at rapid evolution in progress. Genetic variation expressed differently across enviro gradients may constrain adaptation during range expansion.

“Island communities are disproportionately affected by climate change”
Scientists can repeat that as many times in their talks as they’d like but here are some organizations you all can donate to for those impacted by Typhoon Mawar in Guam
@ROD_Entomology I’m so sorry to hear that Kylle. That kind of hate keeping and just being mean really only harms the minoritized groups hoping to take up space in science. I’ve personally been inspired by you and your work and I’m so happy that comment didn’t completely hinder you.
Last board notes for the semester! Such awesome students this semester and great attendance for an 8am lab. Hopefully the last time I teach this lab for my PhD 🙃.
PSA: if you use an iPad and have photos that need the background removed (ex. Marking leaves for herbivory), the new IOS update allows you to remove a bunch of photos background in the files app!
Also, I hopefully will finally be able to attend my first ESA conference in person as all the other times has either been virtual or some medical emergency got in the way… (I shouldn’t have anymore appendix left right?)
Was able to submit an abstract for @ESA_org with 23min to spare 😉. The abstract submission fee was weird tho… I don’t understand how scientists are constantly getting scammed to pay to showcase work…

Lol I think University of Eastern Colorado in #TheLastOfUsHBO is inspired by @ColoradoStateU ! As we seem to have eerily similar signs and mascots being the big horn and Rams.
@ROD_Entomology @CSU_AgBio omg yes, the last episode almost had me in tears. I feel like I will just break down once we reach the last episode because everything has just been so gut wrenching.
Not sure if anyone else is as into "The Last of Us" as I have been, but Maia Holmes from @CSU_AgBio discusses the cordyceps in the show that turns people into zombies. The show was inspired by zombie ants controlled by this fungi.

I have an opening in my lab for a postdoc working on eco-evolutionary dynamics for about a year. Perfect for someone between positions looking for that fabulous permanent job! The listing is here: https://t.co/ygGTYE76kH
It’s been a year since I touched my r codes and after a year, I finally figured out that my df didn’t save as a csv because I forgot to put “.csv” ….. 🫣
Please announce that school is closed @ColoradoStateU. I don’t want to start driving and surviving my way through i25 only to get to campus by 8am to teach a class that is canceled.
