The Minister of State for Interior Affairs HE Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Faisal Al Thani met today, Sunday, 3 December 2023, with the Ambassador of the Republic of India to the State of Qatar HE Vipul.
The meeting involved discussions on various matters of mutual interest and a review of the cooperative relations between the two countries in the security fields, along with ways to support and enhance them. #MOIQatar
Met this morning with the families of the 8 Indians detained in Qatar.
Stressed that Government attaches the highest importance to the case. Fully share the concerns and pain of the families.
Underlined that Government will continue to make all efforts to secure their release. Will coordinate closely with the families in that regard.

Turkey is mediating to secure the release of #eightIndian nationals , all former Indian navy officers, who have sentenced to death by #Qatar. America too likely to be involved. Family members have been asked to not to speak to the media. These and other details. #Dahra
Important podcast with @satbirsm on the death warrant issued by Qatar to 8 ex Navy officers. ‘We want out veterans back. PM should call his counterpart and move ICJ…Families devastated and worried. No soldier deserves this’

@shammybaweja Searching Questions by Harinder Baweja TOI. Soldiers give their lives to protect Integrity & Sovereignty of the Country but being sent to gallows is unacceptable. I appeal Honble PM for his indulgence & send Jaishankar if reqd. We want our veterans back. from Qatar
.@mishra_abhi report in @danikbhaskar suggests that the 08 detained Naval officers were ‘ostensibly tortured ‘during captivity to obtain confessions under duress.
I am told that the families are meeting @DrSJaishankar today . Hope he does something concrete & does not fob them off with inane platitudes & homilies.

@PMOIndia@MEAIndia Veterans & Rotary Club Vizag mobilized in solidarity of 08 IN Veterans in custody at Qatar & demand imdt release . Request Hon’ble PM for his kind personal intervention.
"The only recorded conversation is of these officers speaking with a military attache about general things. This was misconstrued and misinterpreted by the Qatari authorities and these men were rounded up and are languishing in jail."
On the Qatar case, where govt wants silence.
Eight IN veterans, in Qatari jail since Aug 2022 are being tried under local laws.Three hearings have taken place since (unknown) charges were made & they are next due in court on 21 Jun. Arrival of new Indian ambassador Vipul in Qatar has raised hopes of anguished relatives.
The government is doing but not enough as even their deportation to India after nine months has not happened. CNS should know that this definitely will affect the morale of the current Navy workforce if we don't care about our navy veterans
@SpokespersonMoD@indiannavy@MEAIndia
How long, how long , how long 😔 these navy veterans in solitary confinement at Doha have to suffer for no fault but because of business rivalries.
