Here’s what happened. Mayor @ZohranKMamdani’s team runs a private group chat on Signal called “NYC Creators Announcements.”
It grew out of his old campaign network and now feeds daily talking points, video clips, and City Hall access to almost 200 online influencers. City Hall’s media director, Emilia Rowland, runs it.
Some of these influencers got paid, $5,000 to $20,000 each, out of city contracts. That’s taxpayer money.
Here’s why that’s a problem:
1. Disappearing messages, disappearing accountability: Signal can be set to auto-delete texts. If real government business is happening in that chat, city law says those records have to be kept and made public. Nobody’s said whether messages are being deleted. Convenient.
2. A campaign tool that never really stopped: This started as a campaign group with no rules attached, then quietly became an official City Hall channel. Nobody’s said exactly when that happened, or what changed.
3. Rules for some, not others: These influencers get paid with little disclosure, while community news outlets have to jump through hoops for the same city ad money. That’s not fair, and it’s not transparent.
The city and state comptrollers should be digging into this. Don’t hold your breath.
I will on January 1st, 2027 and if crimes were committed, don’t go far.
@EdWatcherNYC She’s a sociopath. She pathetically forced her kid to speak at a virtual rally against tests. I felt bad for him because it was obvious he didn’t want to be there and looked like a hostage.
Again, those with dual-citizenship like Zohran Mamdani should NOT be allowed to run for high office. Glad the State Department caught this, and without a doubt Mamdani should not be given high level security clearance.
