@MatthewHMalone In a similar vein, a regular story from work:
"Please send me a list of x, including coordinates for each one."
"Here's a picture turned into a pdf with no information whatsoever. You can put that into the GIS System, right?"
@MapCowboy@MatthewHMalone Had to keep correcting my soon to be ex boss from writing "GIS System" on the job ad. A part of me died inside despite correcting him for several years at this point.
@Joshiepoo25 People are not against innovation. On the contrary. But live service games only create content to occupy your time and bank accounts. They cannot compete with the innovations a lot of indie devs present with their once and done single player games.
@Joshiepoo25 I'm not denying that a lot of people were unjustly hating on it, but denying the shortcomings of your game that ultimately lead to people not sticking around is just setting you up for further failures. Even when the haters were gone there was no player retention.
@Joshiepoo25 More like
"This red apple is special and the greatest thing ever!"
"I personally don't think it is, and besides the flavour being rather mid, it looks pretty rough. I don't think I can recommend that one."
"Oh my god the world is full of haters nowadays!"
@geoffkeighley Map too big for such small teams, graphics blurry, character designs bland and expressionless, too many disconnected and pointless systems. I don't see whatever you saw in that pile of garbage.
@RobinPoedev The line "it is essentially the same as someone asking Grok for facts they could have spent a few hours reading through Wikipedia pages" is so telling. Research is part of the process, if you take what Grok says at face value then the wrong answers will be part of your opinion.
@finlaena Just recently realized we haven't heard from Alad since TNW. They wouldn't just kill him off like that... Right? I think based on some dialogue from 1999 it might tie in with Tau. Or at least I hope so as well.
@Gabino_Iglesias@MrGaunt This book started off so great, but I admit it lost me when more and more explanations were added. Got to pick it up and finish it some day.
@TyrantLzrdQueen@Paleoartologist@AMNH@RGGSatAMNH @boydpaleo @NDGSPaleo "How badass while also fitting can we name this animal?"
Clint: "Yes"
Seriously though, congratulations! I'll definitely keep tabs on this one, I'm excited to see where your research is headed.
@CptZSLight@RikaXIV Nah, if you pull before everyone's ready, you broke that first and it's entirely on you.
If you don't like that, get a premade group.
@pokateo_maps A lot of my fellow students came to me with their GIS problems. I couldn't count how often it was about wrong area calculations, and 99% of the time it was due to everything being in WGS84 :D
It doesn't stop with apartments either. I'm about to move for my new job, since I got nothing around my current home town, and suddenly dozens of job offers out of nowhere in the very city I am right now and wanted to stay.
@codexnoirmatic Have you taken a look at "The Art of Morrowind"? It has some really great designs, probably from before Todd Howard asked his designers to tone it down a bit!
