We are 22 years old, just graduated college, and had no idea what we were going to do post-grad. We all received return offers from where we were working... but instead, we decided to do something kinda crazy: We launched a dating app.
Yeah, I know — the space is crowded and everyone’s trying to build one (trust me, we hear that all the time). But what they didn’t know was how serious we were — and how dead set we were on building something people like us have been waiting for.
Dating apps haven’t changed in over a decade.
And no one’s tried to fix what’s clearly broken.
Back in college, we realized that almost all of our friends in real relationships had met through mutual friends. So we started wondering: Why are all the apps still built for strangers?
I’d never been into dating apps, but after a breakup I finally gave them a shot — and man, it was brutal.
Everything was paywalled, the vibes were weird, and the whole thing felt like you were auditioning for a role you didn’t even want.
That’s why we built Cerca: a mutual-based dating app centered around warm intros from friends of friends.
Because when someone can vouch for another person,
It’s safer. It’s real. It just feels better.
We’ve got some amazing things coming soon — and I’d love to hear what you think and most importantly... welcome to Cerca!

@ninagrewal97 That is why the current dating market and all the apps suck. You are constantly meeting people you do not know -- and people are tired of going to dates that feel like job interviews.
It’s National Iced Tea Day, so we’re spilling the real tea: your soulmate might already be on Cerca 👀💛 Don’t let them steep too long… #AriZonaIsTheOnlyTea
@Wavymafia Every app right now there is no accountability and no safety. This is where we come in! No more dating strangers - it's time to date mutuals (friends of friends) and people in your circle. Give it a try!
@JeremiahDJohns The dating scene right now is terrible and that is why so many people are steering away from these stranger oriented apps that have been the same for the last 10 years. Try something new and try Cerca!
I hate dating in New York
I just heard from one of my friends that he went on a hinge date only to have her walk out on him.
Not only that, but when he messaged her asking why, she said because it was “not nice enough of a restaurant for her standards” … it was Carbone.
