ABİKE DABIRI-EREWA, YOU CANNOT LAUGH AT ETHNIC HATE AND THEN HIDE BEHIND SEMANTICS!
Madam, you are not just an ordinary social media user. You are the Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, a public official serving under President Bola Tinubu. Your office demands sensitivity, responsibility and respect for every Nigerian, regardless of ethnicity.
So, when you amplify a post describing Igbo people as monkeys, children of gorillas and bastards, and accompany it with laughing emojis, you cannot expect Nigerians to pretend nothing happened simply because you did not personally write the original insult.
You may not have authored the hate speech, but you chose to amplify it. That is precisely what you need to explain.
Your defence that you did not personally call Igbo people those names does not answer the central question: why did you repost that message with laughter in the first place?
And what makes this particularly troubling is the government you represent. This is a government whose officials routinely demand respect for the President and insist that public discourse must be responsible. Yet, when a senior public official is confronted with a controversy involving an ethnic insult, the public deserves more than an argument over who typed the words.
If the same conduct were directed at your own ethnic group, would you consider it harmless because the person sharing it did not originate the insult?
Nigeria belongs equally to the Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, Middle Belt communities and every other ethnic nationality. No public official should treat ethnic humiliation as entertainment.
Madam Abike, this is not about escaping blame through technicalities. It is about responsibility for what you choose to amplify.
You owe the Igbo people and Nigerians at large an unreserved public apology. Not another explanation designed to narrow the accusation. Not an attempt to make the controversy about who misunderstood whom. An apology that acknowledges the hurt caused and recognises the responsibility that comes with your office.
Public office is a position of trust, not a licence to dismiss legitimate public outrage.
If you expect Nigerians to respect the office you occupy, you must also respect the people whose interests that office is meant to serve.

APC unleashed its army of slaves and pigs on Donald Duke for daring to say the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway wouldn’t go much beyond Lagos. Now, reality is exposing the propaganda merchants.
Bola Tinubu came to steal, kill and destroy. Reject APC at all levels.
Madam Abike you call what you did in NTA journalism
Hahahah
Show me one investigation NTA did to expose corruption in government during the military era!
I am waiting in the comments section!
By the way Nigerians are in India deportation camps.
Lady says she has been supplying water to her community for years but is now restricting access because residents collected money from politicians during elections instead of holding them accountable for the lack of basic amenities 😂😂❤️
“The unfortunate incident that happened today in Enugu State, where NDC supporters were att@cked by political thûgs, has reportedly claimed one life. Those in government should know that when anarchy comes, it consumes everybody.”
— NDC presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, speaking today. He also recounted how his scheduled engagements in different states were cancelled after those who invited him reportedly received thre@ts.
There is a kind of joy that flows whenever people hear the name Peter Obi.
The streets of Edo State buzzed in celebration as the NDC campaign team played the popular Obi-Kwankwaso hit song ✌️
Before H.E Peter Obi leave PDP to Join Labour Party in 2022. He made unforgettable remarks to the PDP bot members.
What he said made everyone to get more worried about Nigeria.
@DanielRegha Filthy and very dishonest. Peter Obi is the only/major politician from South East contesting for presidency. Amongst the major contenders, he's light years ahead in credibility. Know this and know peace.
If you don't agree with what this guy said about Tinubu and Umahi, you're the most miserable person ever.
There’s a reason Tinubu chose him as Works Minister.
Grown men will watch this video. Yet, they will confidently tell you every woman is the same!!!
Like radical feminists, most pro-masculinity men, fall into the error of thinking every woman is the like whore who broke their heart!!!
Independence Is Meaningless Without Real Freedom
As we continue to reflect on Nigeria’s Independence, we must remember that independence means very little if citizens cannot freely express themselves, within the bounds of the law, without fear.
Reports that some Nigerians in Akwa Ibom were arrested simply for identifying with the Obidient Movement should worry every Nigerian who believes in democracy and freedom, especially when such identification is a constitutional right.
One of the greatest tragedies of our society is that people who once described themselves as freedom fighters can become defenders of oppression when they eventually occupy positions of authority. Those who once complained about injustice can become comfortable with injustice when it is being perpetrated against people they disagree with. That must not be the Nigeria we accept.
Our independence must ultimately mean freedom from fear, injustice, intolerance and abuse of power.
Nigeria must belong to all of us. -PO
Nigeria at 66: Looking Back, Looking Forward
Fellow Nigerians,
Today we mark the sixty-sixth anniversary of our independence. It ought to be a day of celebration and thanksgiving to God Almighty for the gift of life and for the immense blessings He has bestowed on our nation—our diversity, our abundant human and natural resources, our vast agricultural potential, and the relative absence of devastating natural disasters.
It should also be a day of appreciation and patriotism: a day to remember our founding fathers and all those who made selfless, and in many cases supreme, sacrifices for the birth, survival and growth of our dear nation. We must acknowledge the efforts of past and present leaders who have laboured, however imperfectly, to build a better Nigeria.
Yet independence anniversaries must never be reduced to mere celebration. They are moments for honest national reflection. We must look back, examine where we stand today, and ask ourselves whether we are moving in the direction our founding fathers envisioned.
In national planning and strategy, every serious nation must continually ask three fundamental questions:
Where are we today?
Where do we want to be?
How do we get from where we are to where we want to be?
These questions are especially urgent now. Despite the enormous promises made by the APC-led government in 2023, our nation continues to face deepening challenges across virtually every critical sector of national life.
Today we stand before the world as a nation:
With an extraordinarily large population living in poverty and severe hardship; over 140M
With one of the largest populations of out-of-school children in the world; over 18M
Where insecurity, terrorism, banditry and kidnapping continue to threaten lives and livelihoods, just recently 37 young Nigerians in their productive age lost their lives
Where millions of Nigerians struggle with hunger and food insecurity; over 40M Nigerians will be in extreme hunger by the end of 2026.
With unacceptably high rates of infant and maternal mortality; Nigeria today is the worst place to be born.
Where youth unemployment and underemployment remain alarmingly high; over 35M
Where drug abuse and substance misuse increasingly threaten our young population; today 14% as against global average of 6%
Where life expectancy remains among the lowest globally, today 54 years against global average of 74 years
And the list goes on.
This reality demands serious, sober and honest reflection. Socrates taught that “the unexamined life is not worth living.” By the same principle, an unexamined nation cannot successfully chart its future. We must therefore ask ourselves: Are we cursed, or have we become the curse through the choices we have made and the failures we have tolerated?
The answer cannot be that Nigeria is cursed. We are a nation immensely endowed and blessed. Our greatest problem is not a lack of resources; it is the failure to convert our enormous resources into human development, productivity, security and shared prosperity.
Only yesterday, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso and I returned from a two-day visit to Sokoto State. We held extensive consultations with people from different parts of the state on insecurity, out-of-school children, poverty, youth unemployment, drug abuse and other challenges confronting our people.
In concluding the visit, we went to the Internally Displaced Persons camp at Ramin Kura within Sokoto metropolis. What we saw was deeply troubling. Thousands of women and children live in deplorable conditions, displaced from their homes and deprived of the basic necessities of life. Many of the children have no access to education. Mothers and children have limited access to basic healthcare. These are Nigerians who should be living in their communities, going to school, farming their land, conducting their businesses and contributing to the economy. Instead, they live as displaced persons in their own country.
I'm now 31. I can't work as a graduate trainee in most banks or Fintech in Nigeria due to age.
Their criteria is always;
> below 27
> NYSC certificate
>2.1
> atleasg 1yr experience
But if I manage to stay alive till 75yrs, when my brain cells will need more sleep then I'll be more than qualified to be the president of Nigeria that will determine the existence of any bank or industry in the country.
A single Policy made by President Tinubu on May 29th 2023 threw over 30million people below poverty line.
He doesn't have a first class.
He didn't go to any university.
He's not young.
But he's qualified to rule Nigeria because the criteria to rule Nigerians is to be dubious and incompetent.
Make it make sense
We designed a system to have the best in Private sectors and the worst in Politics running the Affairs of the entire nation.
Judicious in Micro economics but dastardly stupid in macroeconomic conditions.
