A year ago, I thought cooling interventions were sci-fi. Something for 2050 if things got really bad. Today my piece on @SRM360_org explains why I was wrong.
Thread on what changed my mind 🧵
📢 https://t.co/uDfOAdZOho launches 26 Nov! SRM360 is an independent knowledge hub supporting evidence-based discussion on #SunlightReflectionMethods (SRM). As climate challenges grow, we aim to bridge the gap between complex science and public understanding. #SRM#climatescience
NEW: Investors are 'flying blind' to risk of climate lawsuits, according to research from the Oxford Sustainable Law Programme research.
The study calls for an overhaul in how climate litigation risks are assessed & provides a new framework for doing so.

#Biodiversity is a key determinant of the health and resilience of ecosystems, and their capacity to provide multiple benefits to all members of human societies in a warming world.

Atmospheric methane continues to accelerate, likely due to increased rainfall & warming causing greater emissions from wetlands (particularly in the tropics).
Though, methane expert Euan Nisbet is worried something more terminal might be going on...😬

The peril of climate change isn't a distant threat anymore, but a harsh reality reflecting the aftereffects of centuries of greenhouse gas accumulation.
However, the fight is far from over. Our actions in the immediate future will have monumental implications for unborn generations.
Despite this, numerous politicians, advocates, and individuals dismiss the occurrence of climate change to circumvent the need for decreasing fossil fuel consumption. To address this, the given video contextualizes the recent human-induced surge in atmospheric carbon dioxide and subsequent global warming within a 20,000-year timeline.
This context should help clarify our concerns.
I believe that we made a mistake on multiple fronts ( scientific, strategic, rhetorical, and political) by simplifying the ecological crisis to just treating it as a climate crisis and then reducing the climate crisis to merely a matter of carbon.
What are your thoughts on this matter?

ICYMI: A study led by @OxfordBiology found that the regulating global agreement doesn't cover two-fifths of species likely to be threatened by wildlife trade.
These include 370 Critically Endangered or Endangered species on the IUCN Red List.
