BREAKING: @dost_pagasa declares the start of the rainy season in the country. This is the latest start of the rainy season since 2020. ⛈️
Monsoon breaks may still occur and the enhanced Habagat in the western sections of Luzon and Visayas is LIKELY during the developing "El Niño".
CRITERIA:
✅ A total of 25 mm of accummulated rainfall during a five-day period (pentad) in May, June or July; and, at least 1 mm of rainfall in three consecutive days.
✅ 7 stations or 50% of the 13 monitoring synoptic stations of PAGASA under the Type I climate; for Metro Manila, at least two stations.
✅ The large-scale wind pattern should be at least westerly components — from 190° to 270°.
