Our review on cell size regulation is out! Both proud and grateful for this chance to give a brief background on the field I’ve devoted the past 6 years of my research life to. Congrats to all the authors (who don’t really use twitter)!

New Research: What programs the size of animal cells?: The human body is programmed with definite quantities, magnitudes, and proportions. At the microscopic level, such definite sizes manifest in individual cells - different cell types are… https://t.co/3d3RQKNNDw #celldevbio
It's really exciting to see shifts in academia that go against the typical "constantly on" mindset. Thank you @DrAnneCarpenter for bravely sharing your story. This is a great example of how we should work to live, not live to work.
2 years ago, everything was going great in my mid-career lab.
Making a choice to reduce stress and prioritize my health turned out to have ripple effects - my colleagues, family, and friends are reaping the benefits, as am I.

I finished my first portrait 👻
As challenging as this was, I had a lot of fun learning and pushing myself to complete this.
Being a part of @projectPXN community has been a refreshing experience and I'm so grateful for all the amazing individuals I've connected with.

Very excited to be selected as a speaker at a @nature conference on my work in human rights & the pandemic! Registration still open and free for students! Chime in if you're interested on April 5th =p! #humanrights#covid19#research#conferences
As a follow up to our previous work on the dual arm mechanism of #CellSize homeostasis, here we share some cool insights into how large cells modulate growth rate so they don't keep growing larger. #SizeMatters@rankafri@nishmpatel
I can’t wrap my head around what’s happening. To those harassing the healthcare workers who have and continue to save the lives of ignorants like the woman below - 🖕🏼🖕🏼🖕🏼
A big fuck you to everyone harassing hospital workers, patients, and their families today.
Never thought I would get an email from my employer encouraging staff to not wear their hospital ID badges or scrubs in public because it could be a safety concern, but here we are.
I'm old enough to remember when polio ripped through the globe and put my six-year-old friends into iron lungs.
We dutifully lined up at school to get polio shots (without the howling of governors or anti-vaxxers). And we eradicated polio.
Why has saving lives become political?
Thrilled to have had the opportunity to be a part of this awesome study - using morphological features to match compounds with query genes! Is it time to say bye to having one assay per POI? 🤔
Pharma spends millions of $$ for *each* screen where they test millions of compounds to find those impacting a given protein’s activity.
What if we could just... look up the right compounds in a catalog w a computational query? 🤯🤯🤯
Preprint alert from Carpenter-Singh lab! 🧵
Generally, a filming date will be scheduled within 4-8 weeks after acceptance. A videographer will be sent to the authors’ site to film the procedure. If you are interested, either message me or submit an abstract here - https://t.co/9AGppgOhkj :)
Since most of us are visual learners, I think #VideoArticles are key to understanding new techniques and technology. I opened a Collection titled “Current methods to study cell growth and division” (https://t.co/rMuUA9YTVe) on @JoVEJournal where you can submit an abstract!
...it would be great to showcase these with the community in an easy-to-understand format. After submission, each manuscript will be editorially and peer reviewed, which typically takes 1-2 months. Once a text article passes review, a script will be generated.
Great synopsis (I may be biased) of our lab’s work through the years by @rankafri at #EMBOCellSize | Slide shows how longer living mammalian species tend to have smaller cells (when comparing the same cell type), further evidence that #sizedoesmatter
