If you had a broken leg, you'd have to stop, rest & rehabilitate right? And we just accept that don't we? We go visit & write cheery notes on the cast and take casseroles...so why don't we support people with a #mentalhealthproblem the same way? #endstigma#MentalHealthMatters
@PPsIntoAction @Louise_Patmore@NHSEngland I'd love to know your thinking on this. I'm very committed to making things better for those affected. More than happy to be guided.
The legacy of COVID19 will be a whole generation of traumatised health staff. All the key features are there. Death, perceptions of not having done enough, guilt, difficult choices...it's a ticking time bomb. The NHS needs to start planning for it now. #ptsd#coronavirus
@outdoorperscrip@MadCovid I agree with you. But there are alot of very scared ppl out there. Isolated & with physical health issues as well as mental health. We can't leave ppl with wrong information that might be a barrier to them seeking support because they think it isn't there.
@pixiegirle Then make the distinction. We are working above & beyond. I worry that people will be left with the impression there's no help & we've just abandoned them & it couldn't be less true. There is no support from Food Banks, social support teams or day services. It's just us. We care.
Despite some irresponsible tweets to the contrary, Primary Care MH services are still operating. We are still treating using various telephone & online options. Its not ideal but we are still following NICE guidelines & taking care of ppl as best as we can. #nhs#mentalhealth
@outdoorperscrip@MadCovid I spoke to a colleague tonight in tears over trying to protect ppl from the virus whilst in hospital. No one could have possibly been prepared for this. MDTs are still taking referrals. Risk is still our priority. Honestly it makes me want to cry the amount of negativity.
@hagenilda @MadCovid Not unwarranted when we are continuously attacked and misrepresented. I work hard for the people I support. It really matters. To be accused of withdrawing support harms us and more importantly SUs. That's what's unwarranted.
@pixiegirle IAPT services are UK wide. Yes. I have not attacked them but they were saying something that simply was not true. How anxiety provoking is it for SUs if they're led to believe their services have been withdrawn? It's totally unfair and irresponsible. I asked for balance
@MadCovid I'm an ex service user & I've been suicidal. I value MH services and the efforts they go to. You can't attack a whole group of care givers and not expect a response. MH services have not been withdrawn. You can't put something out there that isn't true. End of.
@MadCovid Then stop trying to whip up negativity against MH workers and services. Why not write a blog from both perspective if a balanced viewpoint is actually what you are interested in? Sick & tired of people like you perpetuating a them & us. It demoralizing & it increases SU anxiety
@MadCovid We're not sat at home twiddling our thumbs or making freaking tik tok videos. MH is the invisible front line & we are well aware of the vulnerability of the ppl we serve. We are risk managing & making safety plans and trying to keep people alive. Give us a damn break.
@MadCovid There's always an anti-services agenda here and to be honest, myself and my colleagues find it pretty demoralizing when we're demonized and the subject of unnecessary criticism. Food banks, social support, day services etc have all been pulled. We're still here. 1/2
@MadCovid I wish there was a bit of balance here. I object to the way services are portrayed as unprofessional and uncaring. We are working from home, our non clinical support has all ceased. We are working with our phones, laptops and our words. That's all. Doing our level best
@MadCovid@Sectioned_ I'm not aware of MH services withdrawing treatment. Our service is busier than ever offering telephone & various online options to keep treatment going. We're also case managing, getting ppl linked in to services to help them stay visible, arranging for meds to be delivered etc
@Louise_Patmore@NHSEngland If I was asked, I feel that strongly about it and I'm sure others would too. It would mean increased numbers & we'd still have our own communities to serve but it's doable so therefore, shouldn't we do it? 2/2
@Louise_Patmore@NHSEngland Yes, I understand. It's always a balancing act. But to be honest, it has been shown how quickly a response can be set up. We have a dedicated support line within CWP. All the systems (IAPTUS etc) are there as are the staff. It just needs coordinating. I'd work extra hrs 1/2
@carriesymonds I think your celebration is in rather poor taste. How many did Boris infect before he developed symptoms? How many have died through lack of PPE? Boris will live to see his child grow. He has denied many that opportunity. It's a bit sick don't you think?
@HHepplewhite@carriesymonds And meanwhile...away from your sickening attempt at humour through political point scoring, people will have died alone today in their hundreds. Children will have lost parents, parents will have lost children & were not able to sit with them as they drew their last breaths. Scum
