1. Getting a #bpd diagnosis so young (15) destroyed what was left of my self-esteem. It’s punitive & blaming. Still angry that the ppl who hurt me moved on with their lives but I was branded as having a clinically “dramatic” PD as a child processing trauma.
Let’s talk about periods on the psych ward
🩸 no sanitary bins
🩸inadequate period provisions eg tiny sanitary pads, non applicator tampons
🩸those with no leave can’t buy suitable products
🩸1:1 patients being watched changing products
🩸limited access to pain killers
This weekend we were proud to attend the first Bath Pride event and to represent and celebrate our LGBTQ+ community. 💙
Thank you to all our colleagues for taking part and to everyone who joined the march with us or stopped by to say hello at the RUH stall.
4 loveable pig sisters are available to go to a very good home which will look after them (and not slaughter them). They are alive thanks to the wonderful Every Pig Rescue. https://t.co/wclMX27fhC
We are responding to an incident with @swasFT and @AvonFireRescue in #Bath this afternoon.
A cordon is in place as a precaution.
Please see details below.
Updates to follow.
Fun fact for CAMHS everywhere,
Did You Know! that there are approx 46193681 other potential explanations for a young person’s recurring severe distress APART FROM ‘emerging EUPD’?
At last a national news article highlighting the harms of the BPD diagnosis.
"Leading medics are now calling for an immediate ban on youngsters being classed as having BPD"

@Ed_Wright2014@autisticpuffin Whilst we’re at it, I also did not “conceal foreign objects”, take illicit substances or consume alcohol whilst a patient on the ward, but those are still listed as reasons for the contract.
(CW SH/su**ide). ‘Behaviour contracts’ in the management of risk in #borderlinepersonalitydisorder (#bpd) patients are utterly wrong & do NOT work. Just found this photo of one from an NHS #psychward I was on when in crisis in 2021 & it makes me angry even now.
@Ed_Wright2014@autisticpuffin In my case, it literally was. I was never verbally abusive or threatening to anyone- staff or patients. I don’t have anything else to say on that issue. I was on a ward where I was bullied, neglected & mistreated and that’s all there is to it.
@graceyoutreach I also never once was abusive or made threats to anyone, so that is just a complete lie so they can justify using a “contract” further.
@graceyoutreach I think that’s the bit that upsets me the most. Showers were causing me flashbacks because of PTSD, but struggling to wash somehow became a behavioural issue that warranted discharge…
