Under the 24-team model being discussed, seeds 9–24 play Round 1 and the top 8 get byes.

A team starting in Round 1 would have to win 5 playoff games to win the title.

12 regular-season games + 5 playoff games = 17.

Over the last 5 final CFP rankings:

Teams 1–8 averaged 1.18 losses.
Teams 17–24 averaged 2.93.

Only 1 of 40 top-8 teams had 3+ losses. In 17–24, it was 30 of 40.

That’s a hell of a drop-off. #Stop24

From 2021–25, 30 of 40 teams ranked 17–24 had 3+ losses.

12 had 4+ losses.

That’s 75% and 30%, respectively. How far down do we need to go before “access” just means lowering the bar?

From 2021–25, 73% of teams ranked 13–24 finished with 3+ losses. 20% had 4+.

A 24-team field makes those records championship-eligible. That changes the regular season whether players “care” or not. #Stop24

They dropped to #4.

In a 24-team playoff with 8 byes, this loss changes their seed and nothing else. They still get the week off.
