There is only so a much a coach can do. Saw it with Mourinho second spell at Chelsea and how the team suffered season after Title win and not being backed. Conte then wins the league with no Europe. Then suffers season after. Things can change quickly in football. Even Pep suffered last 2 seasons by not winning league but sufficed in the domestic cups and spending big in January back to back.

Maresca tactics hid Chelsea flaws for so long then the season went off the rails. Chelsea just barely got 4th until last day, and even in Conference League final, squad flaws were exposed but quality prevailed.

Alonso is not the saviour, he will at least be on par if not better than Maresca tactically but he will need some crucial signings that address flaws in squad.

Don’t think Chelsea will buy an outstanding LW. Best plan is to play a lopsided back 5 with Pedro Neto/Quenda on the LW. Target an interior like Maza or Rogers (not coming). Ndiaye and Gibbs-White.
