🔥Call for papers on empirical Agent-based modelling! 🔥
We are calling for papers reporting on modelling work that is strongly related to empirical evidence, i.e. the opposite of theoretical explorations. This relationship might be done in a variety of ways, including (but not limited to): data-led simulation, evidence-based specific of simulations, independent validation checks, pattern-based validation, cross-validation or any combination of these. Since this area of research is still underexplored, we do not have strict standards. Instead, we provide a series of examples of what might be in scope:
Qualitatively comparing multiple outcomes against multiple datasets
Quantitatively comparing the micro dynamics against empirical data
Quantitatively comparing model’s outputs with macroscopic patterns to observe the model’s predictive ability
Quantitatively deriving an ABM from dynamic data
Comparing to data multiple models sharing same assumptions
Exploring the effect of data properties and measurement errors on models
Critiques, reviews, philosophical or methodological papers that significantly advance the science of strongly empirical simulation will be considered but we would prefer work doing strongly empirical simulation. Works whose only relationship to empirical data consists of empirical calibration - i.e. fitting models to some data - are not in scope here.

A challenge to my colleagues to apply their skills to help people agree so that we can move forward with collective action to better mitigate and adapt to things like climate change. Details at: https://t.co/oQ6FSTZTuy #abm#socialsimulation#ssc23#eurosocsim#adapt#agreement
A Declaration of Social Simulator Rights! These rights are necessary if modellers are to do their job properly: honestly, transparently and reliably. (as the COVID policy models showed) Please add your name! https://t.co/bMQbefwgLl #ssc2023@eurosocsim#socialsimulation#policy
