@TheAngryOlogist One final note: there’s a thing called a continuation where you can submit your MSc for examination but revoke your right to the MSc in order to add a bit more data to create a PhD. In the end you get a PhD, but it only takes 5 years 🤪.
@TheAngryOlogist If you’re a practical person you’ll pick the less risky route. If your passion drives you, you’ll go for your dream. You’ll get great experience wherever you go as each position will have its unique challenges. You only get to do 1 MSc.
@TheAngryOlogist Some more practical advice for your MSc: It should be fun! Have 2 supervisors. Do a thorough literature review. Learn your stats and use R/GIS and create one publishable chapter. Help others with fieldwork and be a coauthor on a colleague’s paper.
Episode 8 is up! Today we tell the story of Paul Templer and you won’t want to miss it. We also talk with @cfritsch_hippos about how to safely live/recreate around hippos. Listen wherever you get your podcasts!

Tonight I walked past the barricade at the end of our road to a neighbour’s house to buy bread. It’s strange because, considering all that’s happening at the moment, I have never felt safer walking in the dark in #Pietermaritzburg. Funny how the worst brings out the best 😀 🇿🇦🇿🇦
@VFSGlobal I have been instructed to create a new email address just to so use your visa portal because I used my email address for a previous application. How is this possible? I need to create an email address just to login and use your system? Doesn’t make sense
@HubSpotSupport Can you change the blurb that appears when you hover over a card in your Deals board? When hovering over a card, I would like the blurb to display the 'Next Step', is this possible? I am using the free version. Thank you
I'm sure there are numerous researchers using data from @inaturalist who need more observations. If I knew what species they were looking for, I'd prioritize tagging those species. Is there an #iNaturalist tool that does this or a hashtag I should follow? Or maybe a group?
