Just read a post on LinkedIn talking about moving the company’s blog to React. STOP IT. A written, content-driven site does NOT require React! It is not a web app. Stop acting like every piece of real estate on the internet requires React. You don’t even need WordPress or PHP!

@ComputerLove_ We have that exact model in our living room. It doesn’t work (not sure what’s wrong with it as it belongs to my roommate), but he keeps it for nostalgia. 😁

I made us a private Christian music streaming service. And I’ve been buying up Christian music CDs on Discogs to add to the collection. This is what I do in my free time. 😂

My bff and I have quite a collection of Christian CDs between us, but we rarely listen to them because we stream everything. But we have CDs by artists that aren’t on streaming. So I put Navidrome on my server machine, connected it to my Cloudflare Tunnel, & ripped our CDs.

@shub0414 I use forks of it - VS Codium when I don’t want all the telemetry data being sent or AI assistance, Google’s Antigravity IDE when I want AI help (because Microslop can bugger off).

Despite getting 2 AAS in Graphic Design & Digital Marketing, I hated doing both of them. Tell me why I saw an ad on Instagram for my church and instantly thought of multiple ways to improve it? Why is the thing I hated doing suddenly popping up unbidden in my head?!?

I just love that Apple can make a foldable iPhone but can’t stop the homepage folders from running away when you try to put an app in a folder. Every time I go to move an app into a folder, I have to chase the folder around the screen to get the app in it. Wth?!?

@oldstackjournal My 2013 HP 2000 series laptop that received new life with upgraded RAM (8GB! 😂) & a new hard drive… it now serves as my Forgejo machine, Caddy-based web server, and Navidrome server. 😁

Running the current VLC version on a iMac G3 (1998) and on a Pentium III on Windows XP (1999).
Live on our booth at @IBCShow, with JBK, you can see and test them. Yes, both machines still work & yes, the latest VLC still runs on them!

No, they are not ready for the e-waste pile....
Because software compatibility is also an environmental feature, and because people don't optimize the software

VLC remembers. It has always had a soft spot for old formats, old machines and technologies everybody else declared dead.

Dear Microslop: I literally do not have a Windows PC, so why would I want a subscription to Microsoft Solitaire to renew? I mean, seriously? 🙄

@dev_maims Because Windows is a royal PITA, costs way too much, and Microsoft can’t manage to update or patch without breaking *something*.

@wesbos I just learned to switch after a while. I learned to equate Ctrl with ⌘ and just do it automatically now. I don’t have patience to remap the modifier keys 😂
